Remedy Entertainment’s latest game, FBC: Firebreak, is a big departure from the studio’s narrative-driven, single-player experiences, as it focuses on co-op play.
While the studio has already released multiple patches since the game’s release, Remedy has shared details on the game’s first major update.

The bad news here is, it won’t be out for quite some time.
FBC: Firebreak’s Update Will Help Make The Beginner Experience More Enjoyable
The studio’s announcement of the game’s first major update confirmed that it’ll be out sometime in September.
Remedy is acting on community feedback first, but a slew of new content is also planned to be released.
Key improvements and features of the first major update will include:
- Onboarding Improvements – Improving the onboarding process and tutorial level to help players understand the game and its systems better
- Gunplay Upgrade – Remedy seeks to give players more control over weapon progression with a new gun mods system. The update will introduce three new heavy weapons, and dropping all “generic” upgrades to start players with a powerful version of armament that can be used efficiently.
- Job Changes – Expect major changes to the way players access Jobs and even to the content of the jobs themselves.
- New Job – The update will bring a brand-new Job into Firebreak, details about it haven’t been revealed yet, but the devs confirmed it’ll bring in a new handcrafted level, three Zones, a new status effect, and two more enemies to deal with.
For more information on the design philosophy behind the new update, be sure to read Remedy’s comprehensive article about it.

Our review mentions its flaws, but also how the game “delivers exactly what it says on the tin—an easy pick-up-and-play cooperative FPS title with a simplistic footing, but without the traditional live-service elements plaguing its future.”
