Pokémon Go ‘Gigantamax Journey’ promo code and Timed Research

Pokémon Go ‘Gigantamax Journey’ promo code and Timed Research

Ahead of Eternatus’ debut in Pokémon Go, there’s a Timed Research set you can unlock via a promo code that rewards you with Gigantamax Rillaboom, Cinderace, or Inteleon. The limited-time “Gigantamax Journey” research is definitely worth completing — but which of the Galar starters should you pick?

We explain how to redeem the code for the Pokémon Go Timed Research, talk about which starter you may want to pick, and list out the steps to the “Gigantamax Journey” research below.

To claim this research, you’ll need to input this promo code on the Pokémon Go Web Store:

You can also click the link above to auto-input the code into the redemption field. Nice. The code expires on Aug. 24. There are some time-gated steps in this research, so make sure to claim it ASAP.

Once you redeem this code, you’ll be prompted in-game to pick between Rillaboom, Cinderace, or Inteleon from your regular research screen and then this research will show up on the Timed Research hub. The research itself also expires on Aug. 24.

Should you pick Gigantamax Rillaboom, Cinderace, or Inteleon?

Honestly, all three of them are the best Gigantamax attackers for their respective typing (Rillaboom for grass, Cinderace for fire, and Inteleon for water). You should just pick whichever Pokémon or type you’re missing.

For example, if you have Inteleon, but no Cinderace or Rillaboom, and you also have a Gigantamax Charizard but no Venusaur, you should pick Rillaboom. The Kanto starters are second best to the Galar starters, but they are still completely viable to use.

That also being said, if you participated in every Max Battle weekend and have a collection of these already, you could pick based on which Pokémon you need candy for — or if you didn’t roll any good IVs from your battles, you can try to score a good IV one from this research.

If you still feel iffy based on the above, would it help to know that Gigantamax Inteleon has the highest attack of all Gigantamax Pokémon? You can pick that one if you’re looking for pure strength — but you should probably pick based on the above requisites.
