This upcoming week’s new releases of PS5 and PS4 games might be one of the slimmest of the year, but even with that, there are still some big games releasing this week.
There are only a total of five games headed out on the PlayStation Network Store, which is a very small number compared to what we usually get each week.
The biggest release of the week is undoubtedly the launch of a new entry in a long-running franchise.
New PS5, PS4 Games For The Week Of August 4 to August 10
For a look at what’s releasing this week, head on below.
Mafia: The Old Country (PS5 – August 8) – The big game releasing this week is none other than Mafia: The Old Country, which is the latest entry in the Mafia franchise. While the game won’t be as expansive as the previous entries, it won’t cost as much either. Based on what’s shown by publisher 2K, it looks to bring the franchise’s dramatic narrative once again.
For the rest of the week’s release on PSN for the week of August 4 to August 10, continue reading.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 (PS5, PS5 – August 5) – Play as Tanjiro and relive the Entertainment District Arc, the Swordsmith Village Arc, and the Hashira Training Arc from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Hello Kitty Island Adventure (PS5 – August 5) – Embark on a cozy, open-world adventure with Hello Kitty and Friends. Befriend beloved characters as you explore and restore a mysterious island, solve ancient puzzles, cook delicious dishes, customize yourself and your cabins, and so much more.
Gradius Origins (PS5 – August 7) – This collection features 18 versions across all 7 arcade titles in the series, including the first-ever appearance of Gradius III AM Show Version on home consoles. A variety of helpful new features have been added to the games, including save states, a rewind feature, and Invincible Mode. The new Training Mode lets you adjust settings like restart points, loop counts, and power-up statuses to help hone your skills to perfection. There’s also a gallery feature that includes music from the game, a variety of images from each title, and much, much more!
Slopecrashers (PS5, PS4 – August 7) – Slopecrashers is an arcade snowboard racer starring a wild crew of animals on a globe-trotting quest to become champions — but someone’s out to ruin their plans!
While not a full game release, this week also sees the release of the Battlefield 6 open beta! This will be free to download and play for everyone starting August 9, but there is an early access period kicking off on August 7.
It will feature crossplay, and EA seems to have the right idea for it, even if it’s not full-on console crossplay.
Expect more games to be released in the coming week, and of course, there’s Gamescom set to kick off later this month, which means a slew of game announcements are set to drop.
