Modder Is Determined To Breathe New Life Into A Classic WW2 Game

Remakes and remasters of classic video games have turned out to be some of the biggest highlights of recent gaming history, and one modder is working hard to ensure Medal of Honor: Airborne gets a chance at a second deployment.

Medal of Honor: Airborne was originally released in 2007 and is widely regarded as one of the top-tier MOH games thanks to its immersive paratrooper missions that let you drop onto the battlefield.

“We need to let EA know that there is still demand for this classic game all these years later.”

Like any game from nearly 20 years ago, there’s some jankiness involved, and a modder named IDrinkLava has been hard at work making improvements and rallying for more Medal of Honor: Airborne content.

Medal Of Honor: Airborne Redux Mod Just Got A Massive Update

Medal Of Honor Airborne Redux 2.0 update

The Medal Of Honor: Airborne Redux Mod has been around for years, but the new 2.0 update includes over 120 changes that affect almost every aspect of the game.

According to IDrinkLava, “Medal of Honor: Airborne Redux is an overhaul mod that aims to remaster this flawed, ambitious FPS game up to modern standards by polishing up the gameplay and removing most of the jank.” The author states his goal is “to provide a more challenging and tactical experience on-par with the best of what the World War II FPS sub-genre has to offer.”

It’s been a tough few years for many video game studios, as we’ve seen waves of layoffs and canceled projects wreak havoc on the video game landscape. As a result, many companies are restructuring to adapt to industry changes, and given the success of many remasters and reworks recently, a new Medal of Honor has the potential to do really well.

The MOH: Airborne Redux Mod has a long list of quality of life changes, including:

  • Additional display support.
  • Improved peeking and leaning mechanics.
  • You now have the option to remove the censorship of Nazi flags
  • Major weapons overhaul, including recoil changes and faster reloading
  • Sniper accuracy is increased, making for a challenging experience
  • Health and hitbox changes

“It’s an enhancement and gameplay overhaul mod that attempts to fix the jank that plagues this underrated WWII FPS from 2007, such as the low FOV and awkward leaning/walking controls. In addition, it rebalances the Campaign difficulty to play more like a hardcore tactical shooter instead of a casual console COD clone.”

Only time will tell if the Medal of Honor: Airborne Redux Mod will garner enough hype to grab EA’s attention and potentially lead to a brand-new MOH project, but given how popular it is for games (especially battle royales) to incorporate parachuting onto the battlefield, IDrinkLava believes Airborne is ready for takeoff again.
