Yooka-Replaylee Release Date Revealed, Cheaper For Owners Of 2017 Title

It feels like yesterday that many of us were eagerly anticipating the release of the original Yooka-Laylee back in 2017, the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie that every ’90s kid had dreamed of for years.

Upon release, fan reception was a bit mixed, to say the least. I’d contend that the OG game was still a good time, but I can also admit that it didn’t quite live up to my high hopes and expectations. Luckily, developers Playtonic Games understood and accepted the negative player feedback, and they’re ready to give it another go with the upcoming Yooka-Replaylee.

I got to demo Replaylee back in April at the LVL UP Expo in Vegas when I visited the PM Studios Booth, and my impressions were extremely positive. After trying the game out and being assured by the team that they were painstakingly addressing every point of player feedback possible for this reboot, I walked away looking forward to this title immensely.

That’s why I was equally excited to learn that Yooka-Replaylee officially has a firm release date, and I can share this information with all of you. Here’s everything you need to know about the launch, including date, price, platforms, and more that was just revealed at The MIX Fall Games Showcase.

Yooka-Replaylee Release Details

Yooka-Replayee is coming out soon on Thursday, October 9th, 2025. The game will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch 2, which was previously unconfirmed until recently. As such, you’ll be able to check the game out on pretty much any modern, current-gen console you prefer.

Excitingly for Switch 2 owners as well, Yooka-Replaylee will also be a physical release with the game contained on an actual Switch 2 cartridge, something that’s not always a guarantee these days. This checks out, as a previous interview I had with PM Studios CEO Michael Yum revealed that he’s an avid game collector and takes physical game preservation extremely seriously.

If you purchase the game digitally, it will cost $29.99 USD. The physical release is launching at $49.99 USD, but also includes packed-in “goodies,” which explains the price increase.

Most exciting with the pricing, however, is the fact that players who owned the original 2017 version of Yooka-Laylee will instantly receive a 30% discount on Yooka-Replaylee as long as they purchase the game on the same platform. For example, players that had the 2017 game on Switch and have purchased a Switch 2 will qualify for this price discount for Yooka-Replaylee on Switch 2.

Statements From The Developer And Publisher

Internally, it seems excitement is ramping up for developer Playtonic Games and publisher PM Studios.

Gavin Price, Studio Director of Playtonic, had this to say about the impending release:

Yooka-Replaylee is built to shine on every platform, and we’re chuffed to bits it’s on Switch 2 from Day 1. It holds a special place in our hearts (and hands). It’s bigger, brighter, bolder, and packed with all the little touches we always dreamed of. We can’t wait for players to jump in.

Additionally, Michael Yum, CEO of PM Studios, had this to say as well:

Yooka-Replaylee is a celebration of everything we love about platformers – colorful, charming and built to last. It’s games like this that deserve to be preserved, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this adventure with players everywhere in both digital and physical editions at launch.

New Trailer And Additional Pre-Order Details

As of right now, physical preorders for Yooka-Laylee are live at Amazon, Video Games Plus (Canada), and PNP Games. More retailers are to be revealed shortly.

Be sure to keep tabs on Playtonic’s official website and social media platforms if you want more information and details as the game rolls closer to launch on October 9th, 2025.

To celebrate the reveal of the release date of Yooka-Replaylee, the team also just dropped a brand-new trailer. Take a look below to see just how polished and fun Replaylee seems to be shaping up.
