After facing off against The Widow in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you might be wondering what to do with your newfound ability. Well, do you remember that big door that you found right at the beginning of the game in the Moss Grotto? Might be worth going back for a little check, eh?
Using your Needolin power on this door will open it up and reveal the Weavenest Atla Area for you to explore. And explore it you should, because there are some fantastic treasures to be found in the Weavenest.
And what’s more, there’s very little challenge to be found here, apart from one minor inconvenience, or should I say two? So grab your needle and head on back to where it all started!
Entering the Nest
The first thing that you should do when entering the Weavenest is to run all the way to the right. Pass the first chamber and keep going. Eventually, you’ll find a small chamber that has two white triggers in the ceiling. Give them a bop with your needle, and they will retract, allowing you to grab a map of the whole area!
Now, run back to the centre chamber that you passed on the way, the device in the middle will now be functional. Stand in the centre for a second, and you’ll be beamed downwards in a great flash of light.
The Mysterious Eva
Once you’ve reappeared, you’ll see a little platform on your right. Break through the wall there and head down the corridor. After breaking some more walls, you’ll soon find yourself in front of a mysterious glowing chamber. A voice hums in your ear, a breath that sounds as old as time itself.
Speak with the mysterious voice, and they will converse with you. Here, Eva will offer you a series of upgrades for your equipment.
- First, Eva will upgrade your Hunter’s Crest, allowing you to build focus and unleash more deadly attacks.
- She will also offer you an extra slot besides your main crest where you can hold an extra yellow tool.
Moss Mother Surprise
Once you’ve collected your goodies, head back to the light platform and head to the left this time. You’ll find a bench there as the area blends in with the Moss Grotto above. Sit down to update your map and enjoy the view.
Wait. It’s not just a bench? Of course not. Jump into the water and swim left to find a hidden entrance leading further into the cave.
Take the upper path and continue going west. You’ll find yourself up against a large white rolling guy called a Marrowmaw. If you have the Crest of the Wanderer, you can attack him super quickly and kill him before he even starts his roll attack.
Continue moving left, jump over the mini version, and you can grab a mossberry that’s hanging from the ceiling. Again, head left, staying high, and you’ll find yourself in a large green chamber that seems oddly familiar.
Now you have to face two Moss Mothers at the same time! Which, oddly enough, isn’t as much of a challenge as you might think it is. Your skills have advanced so much in the time since that early fight that you’ll be able to take these mothers down in a jiffy.
In all honesty, you can pretty much just bounce on their heads for most of the fight and use abilities like Thread Storm to damage everything and take out the extra mobs. Take down the Moss Mothers, and you’ll be rewarded with the Weavelight tool, which increases the speed of silk regeneration.
Valuable Treasures
Spool Fragment
At this point, you’ve done the important tasks in the Weavenest, but there are a few things yet to collect.
Once more, head back to the main chamber and climb up the wall on the right-hand side. You can then head into another room by jumping to the left.
This next chamber has two Marrowmaws that you need to take out, one above and one below. Kill the bottom one first, and then jump up to find the second. You can see in the shaft to the left that there’s a spool fragment hanging in the air. Float down and grab it.
Rune Harp
Return to the main chamber, but this time climb up the large shaft in the centre. You’ll see near the top, in branches out to the right.
Head down this way until you come into another vertical area. Climb up the right wall and jump to the left to find yourself a Rune Harp. You can give this to the collector back in Bellhart for some Rosary Beads.
Mask Fragment
Once you have the Harp, go back down, and when you reach the bottom, there will be a breakable wall on your right. Head on through and watch out for the pit of spikes.
In the next room, there will be two Pharlid Divers. Bait them out of their hidey holes by running in and out, then hit them on their sides for an easy kill.
When you head past the Divers and check your map, you’ll see that now you’re directly beneath the Marrow, and thus, things are starting to get a little hot. It’s time for some tricky platforming.
You’ll see some unstable platforms floating in the lava, with lava falls coming down from above. Jump on the platforms and then float in the air until the lava stops. You can dash through to the next platform. Keep heading right, climb up the wall and over the spikes.
Now get your pogo fingers ready. Bounce off the two red orbs and then use the little flying bugs to bounce higher until you reach the top right wall. Leap off and do two more pogos, wait for the lava to pass and then air-dash across to grab your Mask Fragment.
And there you have it, that’s everything that you can do in Weavenest Atla. Go and put that Mask Fragment to good use, because seriously, you’re going to need all the health you can get when you reach the Citadel.
