Blasted Steps Full Guide and Walkthrough

The Blasted Steps in Hollow Knight: Silksong is the key to reaching the critical second act of Team Cherry’s newest adventure. In order to reach it, you need a few tools and abilities.

Additionally, Blasted Steps is one of Silksong’s most challenging areas. It also features a boss fight that can really tear you up if you’re not careful, so if you’re having trouble with either of those things, I’ve got you covered with this guide.

In this walkthrough, I’ll cover how to get you to the Blasted Steps, conquer its many platform challenges, and deal with the boss, The Last Judge.

Reaching The Blasted Steps

In order to reach and fully explore the Blasted Steps, you’ll need to have a few things prepared.

To start with, you need the Needolin to open a very important door, which can be acquired by defeating Widow in the Haunted Bellhart. You’ll also need the Cling Grip, so be sure to follow our guide in order to find that.

Hitch a ride on the Bellway to Shellwood. Head all the way to the left, continuing past the gaps until you reach a long, dusty road. This is the road to the Blasted Steps.

Alternatively, if you don’t have this path open, you can wall jump and pogo off the flowers in the picture seen in the gallery above. No matter which way you wind up at the Blasted Steps, it’s time to head on in.

Crossing Perilous Gaps

Keep heading left, watching for falling rocks from above. Jump up into the first gap you see, as the path on the left is not accessible at the moment.

Climb up, then head right, leaping over the spike pit and climbing up. Keep ascending, heading into the next area.

Immediately to your left is a bench, so feel free to rest if you need to. The sand you see up ahead acts the same as spike pits, so don’t fall in.

The wind can make these jumps tricky, so make use of the Drifter’s Cloak frequently to control your jumps. Keep heading left, then make a big leap over to the next platform, then immediately jump over to the other one on the right.

Climb up, then pop back over to the left platform, where you’ll encounter the first new enemy of this area. These fierce, ancient swordsmen are fairly agile, but their moves are also quite easy to spot.

The most dangerous one is the shield bash, followed by a two-strike combo. Eliminate him, then move on to the left and make a big leap over to the next platform. Head toward the left, finding the little alcove that has spikes at the bottom.

Wall-jump up, then prepare to deal with some enemies. Take them out, then use the gust of the wind that blows right if you can. If you’d rather rely on your own skill, you can also pogo off the bells to make it across.

No matter how you make it across, we’re trying to reach the furthest platform on the right. Underneath, surrounded by sand, you can use the Drifter’s Cloak to float down and grab a Memory Locket.

Head into the next section, and gently float across to each platform with the Drifter’s Cloak. Waiting at the end of the path is Shakra, the mapmaker, so be sure to buy the map for Blasted Steps from her.

Find The Route To The Boss

After speaking with Shakra, head up, then to the left. Cross the gaps, being mindful of a new enemy that shoots a spinning cone at you. It can also ricochet, so be extremely cautious of it.

Once you reach the end, use the bells to grab the wall, then float over to the next platform. Make your way across using a combination of the Drifter’s Cloak and Cling Grab, which will lead you to the end of the path.

Below, you can grab a stash of rosaries, but your main objective is upwards. There’s a wall at the top you can cling to, then head up into the top section. Avoid the rock, then dash into the next safe zone.

Keep pressing left, using your cloak to reach the platform on the far left. Flick the switch, which will lower some gates that allow you to go even higher.

Make use of them, grabbing on and finding a bell you can bounce off of, then into a wall that leads up. Use the platform to grab hold of more gates, then continue up until you find a hole you can jump into.

Head to the left, where you can insert some rosaries to create a bench. You can also unlock a Bellway if you’d like. If you head left, then make your way up, you can find a flea for the caravan quest.

Return to the split hallway, then head right. This will lead you directly to the boss, The Last Judge.

Defeat The Last Judge

Use your Drifter’s Cloak here, as it gives you maximum control in the air. Avoid the buzzing enemy, then scamper up the platform.

Head left, taking care of the swordsman. Use this platform to drift over, then bounce off the bells into the wall that leads you up.

On the next platform, you’ll have to contend with a swordsman and a cone-shooting enemy. Eliminate them, then bounce off the bells onto the wall, leaping off that wall to the next set of bells.

Once you reach the next platform, the next screen will be the battle against the Last Judge, so get ready.

Before you can fight him, you need to use the Needolin to activate the door. That will start the story scene that triggers the fight against The Last Judge.

He is a highly aggressive, sometimes brutally difficult boss. But thanks to our guide, dispatching him will be a snap.

After you defeat the Last Judge, you’ve conquered the Battered Steps, and have entered Act 2 of Silksong.
