How to Get Hot Slugger Legendary Shotgun

The Hot Slugger is a legendary shotgun in Borderlands 4, equipped with a damage multiplier effect. It’s arguably one of the best shotguns in the game, and one that can be acquired pretty early on in your playthrough.

However, players will have to travel off the beaten path to locate the Hot Slugger shotgun. Also, acquiring it can take some time due to a very low drop rate.

If you’re looking to obtain the Hot Slugger and become unstoppable against the game’s enemies and bosses, this guide is for you. Here’s how to get the Hot Slugger legendary shotgun in Borderlands 4.

How to Get the Hot Slugger

Callous Harbinger of Death Borderlands 4

The Hot Slugger legendary shotgun in Borderlands 4 has a chance to drop from the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death boss in the Craven’s Nook bunker.

Craven’s Nook is located in the northern section of the Heart of the Mountain, and directly north of the Bones of Sanctuary fast-travel point.

When you first reach the Craven’s Nook bunker, it will be locked shut by a solid substance covering the door. To open the door, look over the ledge nearby to find a liquid canister that you can grab with your grapple hook.

Next, throw the canister at the door to remove the substance, allowing you to enter the bunker.

Craven’s Nook can be pretty challenging and it’s recommended to be at least level 20 or above when attempting to complete it.

Now that you’re inside Craven’s Nook, all you need to do is progress to the end of the bunker to find the boss of the level, the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death.

Once defeated, this boss has a chance to drop the Hot Slugger shotgun. However, the chances of it dropping are rare, considering the Hot Slugger falls under the legendary tier.

How to Farm Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death

Callous Harbinger of Annihilation Moxxi Encore Machine Borderlands 4

Luckily, players can fight the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death as many times as they’d like by interacting with Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the entrance of the boss arena. This machine completely resets the area, allowing you to fight the boss again.

Don’t be surprised if it takes upwards of 20 times to get the Hot Slugger to drop from the Callous Harbinger, as it took me around that many times to finally acquire it. Just know that your effort will be worth it as it’s one of the best shotguns in the game.

Players need to purchase an encore whenever they want to refight the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death. This costs around 30,000 Cash.

For this boss fight, I recommend jumping whenever the boss does an AoE attack, and taking cover whenever it fires its rocket projectiles. As for its charge attacks, a simple dodge to the side will suffice.

Besides avoiding these attacks, use the highest DPS weapon you have against the Callous Harbinger to diminish its health bar.

Eventually, defeating the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death will become second nature as you continue to farm it for the Hot Slugger. The boss really isn’t that challenging once you get the hang of its moveset.

Hot Slugger Attributes

Borderlands 4 Hot Slugger

The Hot Slugger is considered one of the best shotguns in the game for its high damage and its legendary Blazing Barrel effect.

The Blazing Barrel grants an additional 30% damage for 10 seconds after killing an enemy. Even better is that this effect can stack 3 times, allowing the Hot Slugger to deal up to 90% additional damage.

In other words, the Hot Slugger rewards players for killing enemies by constantly increasing their overall damage output after every kill. I can’t stress how helpful this is in missions that put you up against waves and waves of enemies.

.

Simply put, the Hot Slugger is a weapon that you don’t want to miss out on due to its ability to multiply damage. The Hot Slugger can get you through all the way to the endgame, and you’ll find its value outweigh the majority of other guns you discover in your playthrough.
