Do you want to gain an advantage against an opponent in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? Sure, you can increase your power through the use of the game’s various Mega Stones, but you can also do so without Mega Evolution.
One of the ways that you can increase a move’s power in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is by using its Plus Move variant. Many of the game’s moves have an enhanced variant that you can activate to help turn the tide during battle without the need for Mega Evolution.
Let’s break down how to use Plus Moves in Pokémon Legends: Z-A to help you do better in battle, whether it is ranked or for fun.
                        What are Plus Moves?

Plus Moves are moves that your Pokémon have mastered, and that have enhanced power when activated. You can tell if a move is a Plus Move thanks to the plus (+) symbol that appears next to it during battle.
When you activate a Plus Move, the power of the move is increased. As a result, the move will deal more damage to your opponent, but it comes at the cost of mega energy. This means that the energy in your Mega Ring will drain each time you use a Plus Move.
If you have Mega Evolved your Pokémon, all of its moves that can be Plus Moves will automatically become Plus Moves, further increasing the damage dealt to your opponent.
                        How to Unlock Plus Moves

Plus Moves will automatically become unlocked throughout the game as you continuously use its moves. When a move turns into a Plus Move, you will be notified.
This happens when a Pokémon levels up. When a Pokémon learns a new move, it will typically tell you if they have mastered a move as well, turning it into a Plus Move.
You will be able to see what moves are Plus Moves for your Pokémon in the Moves menu.
How to Teach Plus Moves using Seeds of Mastery

Once you have defeated Josée as part of the main story progression, you will gain the ability to teach Plus Moves using Seeds of Mastery. Josée is a member of the Justice Dojo, and you will automatically have to fight her as part of the Rank D Main Mission.
To get Seeds of Mastery, you must defeat the alpha Pokémon that appear around Lumiose City. There is typically one alpha per wild zone, so they aren’t too difficult to find.
Keep in mind, alpha Pokémon are much stronger variants than their normal counterparts, meaning you will want to bring your strongest Pokémon into battle with you against them, and make sure you are paying attention to type advantage.
                        How to Use Plus Moves

Now that you know what Plus Moves are, you are prepared to use them in battle. While you are in battle and are locked onto an opponent’s Pokémon, press the plus (+) button.
This will turn all available moves into Plus Moves until one is used. Once one is used, you will need to press the plus button again to activate the Plus Moves. Keep in mind, since Plus Moves use energy from your Mega Ring, they will not always be available.
