A Final Death For Gravity Guide – Unlock Double Jump

The Outer Worlds 2 is all about cool gadgets and fun ways to interact with the dense, sci-fi RPG world that Obsidian has crafted. One such new thing you’ll discover (as long as you actually complete this quest) is the ability to double jump.

In the middle of completing Perilous Journey To The Grove, you’ll meet a couple of new characters that are stuck at the top of the giant farming harvester that poor Jackson just fell from to his death.

While it’s unfortunate what happened to Jackson, that doesn’t mean that we need to let his untimely end go to waste. Read on to learn how to complete A Final Death For Gravity in The Outer Wilds 2 and get yourself a useful new ability as a result.

How To Complete A Final Death For Gravity

The Outer Worlds 2

Like we’ve already covered, you need to at least progress far enough in Perilous Journey To The Grove in order to actually unlock A Final Death For Gravity. If you’ve yet to find and complete that quest, we’ve got a guide for it as well.

After learning from the two poor souls stranded at the top of the harvester that they need your assistance to get back down to safety, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve looted the P.A.L.E. boots from Jackson’s body. These will auto-equip, and now give you the ability to double jump to your heart’s content.

While in midair, simply press the jump button again to get a little more height, which will allow you to cross larger gaps than ever before. Pay no attention to the absurdly loud noise the boots make when you deploy the double jump. I’m sure it’s fine.

To get Othaham and his partner down, you’ll need to grab the Drive Overloader from a balcony way up on the side of the mountain next to the harvester. You’re now equipped for this job thanks to the P.A.L.E. boots, but it’s going to take some careful platforming.

You’ll want to start from the platform pictured above, then leap across to the rooftop in front of you, using the double jump to successfully cross this gap.

If you have a runway, it’s better to sprint first, then jump, and use your double jump when you’re about halfway across a gap. This strategy should be used for the remainder of this quest.

From here, you’ll just need to keep crossing each new gap using the double jump. The pictures above will show you each gap you’ll come to. Even if some of these look too far, I swear, you can make the jumps. Sometimes, your character will have to grab onto a ledge and mantle up, but this happens automatically as needed.

Just before the Drive Overloader, you’ll find these red, viny plants on the mountainside. If your Medical skill is a 3, these can be harvested and used to improve your Medical Inhaler, or used as Biomass ammo if your Science! skill is at a 3 or above.

Collect the Drive Overloader, and your objective marker will now point you to the top of the harvester where our two friends are stranded. Look directly behind the table where the Drive Overloader was resting, and you’ll notice some scaffolding you can climb. Head on up, and keep crossing each gap that stands in your way.

It’s not hard to take a bad jump here and fall to your death. Don’t stress too much about this. You’ll respawn without much progress lost at all.

The Outer Worlds 2

You’ll eventually reach your final gap, which will finally get you to where the two stranded people are standing.

Head inside the structure, insert the Drive Overloader into its designated spot on the Harvester Automech Control Unit, and lower the harvester back down to safety. Once this is done, speak with Othaham to complete the quest.

Quest Rewards

The Outer Worlds 2

For your efforts, you’ll earn the following rewards from Othaham upon returning him and his partner safely back to the ground:

  • 542 XP
  • 350 Bit Cartridges (Currency)
  • Monocular Target-Finder Helmet

The star of the show here is obviously this nifty helmet. It does an additional 10% damage to all enemy weakspots if you choose to equip it, which is a pretty significant amount.

It also comes with the Range Scanner mod, which does even more weakspot damage if you’re far away from a targeted enemy. For example, being over 100 meters away will result in a +30% damage boost to weakspots.
