Everyone in The Outer Worlds 2 is ultimately just trying to make a buck and survive in the universe. Honestly, relatable. One such example is the Perilous Journey To The Grove quest that you can pick up early in the game.
Truth be told, this quest is dead simple. The only trouble you may run into here is simply figuring out how to reach the location needed to progress things along. If you need a hand, I’ve got you covered below.
Go ahead and get “Jumper” by Third Eye Blind queued up on Spotify, because not everyone is going to win their battle against gravity in this one.
How To Complete Perilous Journey To The Grove
Perilous Journey To The Grove is an optional side quest in The Outer Worlds 2 that you’ll miss if you aren’t taking the time to stop and talk to everyone in the settlement of Fairfield. Since this is an RPG, hopefully you’re already aware that, while optional, you’re going to miss out on a lot if you don’t stop to shoot the breeze with a rando every now and then.
The rando we’re looking for specifically is Huell Chaudry, cheap-looking salesman suit and all. You’ll find him at the map marker above, just north of the infirmary in town and by the bounty terminal.
He’ll tell you that his business partner, Jackson, went after a schematic for a new product they can try to sell to the masses, but he’s been missing for a little while. Agree to go look for his buddy.
This will populate a new map marker to start heading towards, as long as the quest is active in your journal. You’re looking for the location on the map above, but do take note of the route I took to get there.
Once you get roadblocked by a tall mountain, your best course of action is to loop around the entire mountain to the right. Yes, this might seem like the long way, but the path to the left is pretty much impassable thanks to a bunch of tall cliffs.
Once you get to the destination, you’ll start to hear some shouting, and then watch as Jackson leaps from the top of a tall harvester and immediately dies on impact. Uhh… yikes.
Two other people at the top of this structure will start calling down to you, asking for you to help them get back to safety on ground level. This will unlock the quest called A Final Death For Gravity, which is worth your time completing as well. Let’s wrap this one up first, though.
Loot our jumper’s corpse, and you’ll find the schematic that Huell was looking for, along with the P.A.L.E. boots, which you should go ahead and claim for A Final Death For Gravity.
Once Jackson’s body is looted, you simply need to return back to Huell to report the bad news, and this quest will be wrapped up.
Quest Rewards
Even though you were too late to save his partner, Huell will make sure you don’t walk away completely empty-handed. For your efforts, you’ll earn:
- 180 XP
- 350 Bit Cartridges (Currency)
It’s not much, no. But the real perk of this mission is actually that it unlocks A Final Death For Gravity, which you might as well go knock out next. Trust me, the rewards for that one are much more worth your time.
