10 Best Things To Spend Coins On

It’ll take some time before you’re really swimming in the money in ARC Raiders, like Scrooge McDuck high-diving into his vault full of gold coins. The game is a blast, but it’s a bit of a slow burn to begin feeling like you’re making real progress in terms of both money and gear.

Once you get into the rhythm of the game, however, you’ll start extracting with lots of loot that can be sold for a pretty penny via your inventory. The question then becomes obvious: “What do I spend all these hard-earned coins on first?”

Like a kid with extra Christmas money, you’ll have some options. Still, it’s best not to get carried away, and instead, seek out the items and upgrades that will serve you best in every future voyage topside. Here’s what you should focus on spending your funds on.

You’ll want to check the shops often, as merchants will sometimes have rare/high-level gear for limited periods of time.

Door Blockers And Barricades

Can You At Least Knock?

Apollo

Least important, but still worth a shoutout, are some of the defensive items that Apollo sells in the Grenades & Gadgets shop. To be honest, Apollo doesn’t have a ton that’s worth mentioning, but things like door blockers and barricades can be handy in a pinch.

You’ll come across these topside too, and they can also be crafted in the Utility Station if you’ve taken the time to add it to the Workshop. However you come across them, these items can be used to hole up safely in a room of your choosing if you’re being chased by ARC enemies or fellow Raiders alike.

There are many better things to spend money on, to be sure, but if you’re really looking to spend and have a surplus of coin, these gadgets are worth a look.

Apollo

Sticking with Apollo one more time, his supply of grenades and explosives are worth drawing attention to as well. Once again, these are items you can obtain by various other means too, but he’s got them if you want them.

You’ll know already if you’re a player that thrives in the world of explosives, so your own personal use cases and desire to purchase these items will vary. Of course, it’s never a bad idea to have additional means of destruction on hand for when you’re low on regular ammo or need to make a big bang at once, so buying a few explosives to stash can go a long way.

With that, we’ll say goodbye to Apollo and his cool hat, moving onto the rest of the merchants in ARC Raiders who have many more options that are worth your while.

Basic Shields And Healing Items

Lance

One of the hardest things to do in ARC Raiders is simply surviving. As an extraction shooter, the game is going to actively work against your success more often than not. If you’ve already played a couple of rounds, it’s no secret how vital dropping onto a map with bandages and shields ready to go really is.

You’ll find lots of these things topside naturally and can craft them at the Medical Lab too. Additionally, if you’re utilizing free loadouts for now, the game will always give you a couple of bandages to help get you started. Still, these things can run out quickly if you get into a bind.

If you want to have the best odds of extracting in one piece, stocking up on medical items to bring into a run can quite obviously make the difference between getting back home, and losing everything.

Base Level Guns

Truth be told, you really aren’t going to have a massive shortage of entry-level guns to use in ARC Raiders most of the time. In the worst case scenario, you can always use a free loadout if you’ve managed to lose all your stashed guns after successive failed runs.

Still, you’ll quickly learn which early-game guns you prefer over others, so it’s a solid plan to grab extras of your favorites so you can guarantee you always start a run with something you can use to your advantage.

For example, I’m a big fan of the Ferro, so I’ll grab a couple from time to time if I don’t have any left in my stash to use. Don’t forget to create the Gunsmith station in the Workshop so you can start upgrading these base-level weapons to their full potential as well.

Loadout Layout Options

ARC Raiders is all about the builds, and investing in augments is a great way to ensure you’re going topside with as much going in your favor as possible. In comparison to many other items in the game, augments are on the rarer side of things you’ll naturally bump into and be able to bring back.

There are a few different types of augments, and they serve the incredibly useful purpose of altering the layout of your loadout grid. Many of them grant you additional backpack and Safe Pocket space, for example, giving you more room to safely bring back as much loot as possible after a run.

While you’ll start the game off with a few augments in your possession already, they can run out quickly if you get on a bad luck streak. Put the odds back in your favor by making sure you’ll always have a decent augment option on standby for a round you want to go all-in on.

Gun Accessories

And Also Accoutrements

Tian Wen

If you’re still rocking a lower-level gun and haven’t had the chance to upgrade them much on your own (or you keep losing them), Tian Wen’s gun accessories sold in the Gun Shop can give you that extra edge you’re looking for. These are also things you won’t find as often topside, so it’s not a bad idea to grab a few if you’ve got the money to spare.

These are things like extended magazines, or specialized grips and stocks for reduced recoil and improved reload speeds. Gunfights in ARC Raiders can hang entirely in the balance of the smallest of details, so simply being able to utilize a bigger mag or swap them out more quickly can be the difference between life and death in countless scenarios.

Be the most dangerous Raider you can be, and accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. Paris Hilton has nothing on you.

Upper Level Augments

Can You Take Me Higher?

Merchant

Lance

All the points previously mentioned for Lance’s entry-level augments still stand here, but doubly so. Once you really get going in ARC Raiders and have that cash-flow stabilized, you can start expanding more into the higher-level versions of everything.

While whatever type of augment you prefer will set you back a pretty 6,000 coins, the additional perks that come with these higher-level variations are worth it, as long as you’re able to hang onto them for several runs at a time. Sure, the more expensive augments do the useful things you’d expect, like even greater capacity added to your backpack and Safe Pocket space and additional max loadout weight, but the benefits go beyond these things too.

What you really need to pay attention to now is the specific passive buff that comes with each of these pricier augments. For example, the Combat Mk. 2 will restore one Health Point every five seconds if you’ve been damaged (with a 30-second pause after each time you lose HP, to be clear). Find a passive buff you like, and pull the trigger on a shiny new augment.

Upper Level Shields And Healing Items

The Doctor Is In

Lance

By now, you already know the power and necessity of healing items in ARC Raiders. These things can be improved further if you drop the required coin on some of the premium variations that Lance sells in his clinic.

These are things like sterilized bandages, medium shields, and surge shield rechargers that are just better, more effective variations of the cheaper stuff you’ve used before. You get what you pay for, after all.

Keep a lookout for timed sales, too. For example, as I’m writing this, Lance is selling a heavy shield for the next 20-ish hours. Grabbing something like this before heading out into a Night Raid or taking on high-level ARC enemies can make all the difference you need to succeed in these tougher environments.

2

Upper Level Guns

Obligatory “I Need A Weapon”

Tian Wen

Eventually, you’re going to grow tired of the same old firearms that you’re lugging into battle time and time again. Luckily, Tian Wen will have some better options available to you if you’re capable of affording them at any point.

Once again, be on the lookout for timed sales to grab the best (but also most expensive) weapons possible. Just as another example, Tian Wen is currently selling the Hullcracker I in my game, which is a Special/Epic gun that costs a whopping 30,000 coins.

While this is no small chunk of change, purchasing something like this and then upgrading it as far as you can at the Gunsmith station will almost undoubtedly result in a much easier run the next time you go topside. Once again, consider using upper-level guns like this for some of the more challenging events that will pop up periodically.

Stash Expansion

The More (Gear), The Merrier (Raider)

Without a doubt, the best thing you can save up for in ARC Raider is stash expansion. Yes, the best weapons and gear are fun, but eventually, you will assuredly run out of space to store all your goodies. Stash expansion isn’t sold at a vendor, but is instead purchased on your own from the inventory menu.

You’ll initially start with 64 spaces in your stash, but this limit can be upgraded several times. Here’s the breakdown:

Upgrade

Cost

Total Stash Spaces

Stash Expansion 1

5,000

88

Stash Expansion 2

10,000

112

Stash Expansion 3

15,000

136

Sure, 15,000 coins is a lot to spend at once by the end of this process, but these are purchases you only need to make one time. Honestly, it’s entirely worth it to just bite the bullet, expand your stash to 136 as soon as you can, and enjoy this extra space for the rest of your time in ARC Raiders.
