Baldur’s Gate 3 is all about adventuring, which typically means you will find some neat loot if you look in enough places and complete enough quests. You can find everything from common magical items to the most legendary of items that will help you, whether you are a fighter, wizard, druid, or bard.
One item that is a useful utility item for almost any class is the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands. After all, who wouldn’t find it useful to be able to turn invisible?
Here is how you can get the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands in Baldur’s Gate 3: a useful tool for nefarious deeds.
What is the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands?
The Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands is a rare ring in Baldur’s Gate 3. While some rings, like the Ring of Protection, will grant you passive bonuses, the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands grants you the ability to cast the Invisibility spell.
Invisibility is a level two spell in Baldur’s Gate 3 that allows you to turn a target creature invisible for 10 turns. The target of the spell can be yourself, allowing you to become invisible for the duration.
While invisible, creatures that attack you have disadvantage. Meanwhile, you have advantage on attacks against others, allowing you to hit them more easily.
This ring is useful to keep in your inventory regularly, as the Invisibility spell is useful in many areas of the game. For instance, there is a bank that you can rob in Act Three, which is far easier to get inside and remain hidden if you have the Invisibility spell.
Other uses include hiding from enemies, sneaking around the battlefield, stealing the ring from the djinni in Act Three, and more. There are many rolls that become easier when you can disappear from sight.
I recommend keeping this ring on a character that needs it and cannot gain the Invisibility spell. Bards, for instance, get the spell, so using the ring on them is a bit pointless. Fighters, however, do not get the Invisibility spell, so keeping the ring on them for when the need arises is useful. The same can be said for rogues.
Where to Find the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands
If you want to get your hands on the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands, you will need to make your way to the Underdark in Act One. From here, make your way to Grymforge. I recommend being around level five or six when you enter this area, as it will make things a bit easier.
Once you have reached Grymforge, locate the pair of Duergar who are throwing the Deep Gnomes into the water. Speaking with them will allow you to perform two checks: one Perception check of 10 to look at the bodies, and one Sleight of Hand check of 20 to grab the ring. Alternatively, you can perform a Deception check.
If you would rather not perform the checks, you can also choose to fight the Duergar. Doing so will allow you to loot the ring from one of the corpses in the area.
Keep in mind that fighting the Duergar here is not recommended, as it could lead to the rest of the Duergar in Grymforge becoming hostile if the fight spreads. If you do fight them, keep it contained.
