Dead City Season 2’s Ending

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 8, “If History Were a Conflagration”.The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2’s ending set up plenty more action for a potential third installment, but despite Ginny’s uncertain fate heading into the finale, the spinoff provided a definitive conclusion to her story. Although she is one of the least vocal characters in the entire franchise, Ginny still managed to become one of Dead City‘s most important characters, mainly through Negan. They had developed a father-daughter-like relationship throughout the first season, but this all changed after Negan confessed to killing her father, prompting Ginny to steal a gun in season 2 and set out for revenge.

While her plan remained consistent throughout the season, a major injury made succeeding a lot more difficult. At first glance, her wound made it look like Ginny may have been bitten by a zombie, but luckily, it was just a regular injury. Still, the impalement she suffered left quite a nasty gash, and she refused to tell anyone, resulting in her getting no real medical attention. As a result, Ginny collapsed while finally confronting Negan, leading to her father figure desperately trying to save her, which gave her a dramatic role in the finale as we awaited her fate.

She Sustained The Injury While Fighting Walkers In Episode 5 But Never Got Proper Medical Treatment

Despite Negan’s best efforts, he was unable to save Ginny, even after risking his life to get medical equipment. Considering the Burazi didn’t appear to have a designated doctor, Negan took it upon himself to rescue Ginny in Dead City season 2’s penultimate episode, where he traveled to Bellevue Hospital. After a few close calls and several hallucinations, Negan managed to find a machine that he took back to the Burazi’s base of operations, hooking it up to Ginny in an attempt to save her. However, his efforts were in vain, as Ginny tragically succumbed to her infection.

Having neglected her injury for what appeared to be days, it had already grown too severe by the time Negan managed to provide medical aid.

Having neglected her injury for what appeared to be days, it had already grown too severe by the time Negan managed to provide medical aid. Perhaps a proper doctor may still have been able to save her life, but she was left all alone as Negan fought Bruegel’s faction in the finale, and the machine wasn’t enough to save her. Lucille’s Walking Dead return may have provided Negan with the motivation needed to protect his adopted daughter, but as he descended further into villainy and prioritized his war with Bruegel, Ginny passed away, turning into a walker.
