Carrie Underwood Fans Want Her In This Role Amid American Idol Uncertainty

Fans want to see American Idol judge and season 4 winner Carrie Underwood in a different role as they eagerly await an announcement about her return to the show. After American Idol season 23 ended, Carrie didn’t immediately say that she’d be back for season 24, sparking rumors that she was unhappy as a judge, and that she wanted to leave the show.

In an Instagram post, Sunday Night Football on NBC shared a clip of Carrie singing the theme song from Sunday Night Football, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” which prompted many fans to ask the NFL to choose her for the Super Bowl halftime show.

In the comments section of the post, Carrie fans expressed their hope that she’d be selected to headline the high-profile show. One fan wrote, “When y’all gonna let her be the halftime show too?” Another said, “Please be the halftime show this year.”

A different fan suggested a Super Bowl halftime show with the most legendary women of country music. They wrote, “You [Carrie], Shania [Twain], Dolly [Parton[], and Miranda [Lambert] should do the next Super Bowl. Throw in a little Faith Hill and Deana Carter, you got it made.”

Another fan wanted to see Carrie perform “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” at the Super Bowl, writing, “hope she sings a Super Bowl version of the anthem Feb 8th.”

The new Sunday Night Football season will premiere on Sunday, September 7, when the Buffalo Bills play the Baltimore Ravens. This is Carrie’s 13th year singing the fan-favorite theme song.
