Even though she is perhaps best known as a television star, Pamela Anderson just got the perfect movie role she deserves. 33 years ago, Anderson broke into the mainstream after joining the cast of Baywatch, in which she played the lifeguard Casey Jean Parker. Thanks to the success of that show, she was one of the most notable celebrities of the 1990s.
Since the premiere of Baywatch, Anderson’s career has been full of ups and downs. After leaving the hit show in 1997, the actor appeared in many other projects, but she unfortunately always struggled to find success with major Hollywood movies. Over the years, she has appeared in films like Barb Wire, Scary Movie 3, and even showed up in 2017’s critically panned Baywatch reboot.
These three films, along with many others starring Anderson, were not received well by audiences and critics. Thankfully, she excelled in 2024’s The Last Showgirl, but that was an indie film rather than a major Hollywood production. Now, many years after she first broke out in the industry, Anderson has finally gotten a great Hollywood movie role.
The Naked Gun Is The First Major Hollywood Movie To Properly Utilize Pamela Anderson
Anderson Is Hilarious In The Naked Gun
In The Last Showgirl, Anderson delivers an incredible performance, and was even nominated for Best Actress at major ceremonies like the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The acclaimed film proved that she could still make a mark in Hollywood, and now, Anderson is back in the mainstream and better than ever with The Naked Gun, in which she shares the screen with Liam Neeson.
The new comedy movie serves as a reboot and sequel to the original Naked Gun films, which starred legendary comedian Leslie Nielsen as detective Frank Drebin. In the new movie, Neeson plays Frank Drebin Jr., a Police Squad detective who starts investigating a tech billionaire after a mysterious death.
Anderson plays Beth, the sister of the man who is found dead at the beginning of The Naked Gun. Since she also suspects Richard Cane (Danny Huston), the tech billionaire, she teams up with Frank to solve the case. Throughout the movie, both Neeson and Anderson get the chance to show off their acting chops and comedic abilities, and will definitely entertain audiences all over the world.
It is amazing to see this movie embrace Anderson’s acting and comedic abilities, instead of just treating her as a sex symbol, which is what so many of her other projects have done. Thankfully, reviews for The Naked Gun have been great, proving the film easily lives up to the originals. Therefore, after The Naked Gun, I can’t wait to see what kind of projects Anderson takes on next.
