Meet The Cast Of Netflix’s Chilling New Crime Drama, Baby Farm

This article discusses kidnapping, abuse, and the real-life practice of baby farming.

Ebonylife Studios’ Baby Farm gained popularity on Netflix, and the cast of the Nigerian drama is almost as important as its mission to bring awareness to a real-life problem. Baby Farm is one of the best new shows on Netflix, and it’s partially because it has such an important goal. The series takes a realistic but fictionalized view of baby farming, an illegal practice that manipulates or outright kidnaps pregnant women, typically in African countries like Nigeria, and holds them against their will until they give birth (via DW). The babies are then taken from their mothers and sold, often to wealthy parents in foreign countries.

While Baby Farm isn’t necessarily one of Netflix’s best true-crime shows, as its characters are all fictional stand-ins for real people, it’s still a deeply moving show. As with any story about real-life tragedies, Baby Farm ran the risk of being overly depressing, but its talented cast instead made it a riveting and important look at an issue that doesn’t get nearly enough attention. Baby farming in general is worth knowing more about, but the cast of Baby Farm is also worth learning about. With any luck, some of Baby Farm‘s African actors will even start showing up in more American content in the future.
