The Genshin Impact 5.8 character banner lineup has been leaked, and in addition to a brand-new character from the region of Nod-Krai, the update could feature several anticipated reruns that can help bolster your team comps heading into the new area in Version 6.0. The action RPG by HoYoverse has just entered Version 5.7, a new patch that brings forth important story revelations. The Archon Quest highlights an adventure with the Traveler and Dainsleif, as they uncover more details about the Traveler’s sibling and the time they spent in Natlan. Genshin Impact 5.7’s release also added new characters.
With the patch’s arrival, players can now try to obtain the 5-star swordswoman Skirk, who uses Abyssal power to mimic Cryo. The character is somewhat limited to team comps that revolve around Frozen reactions, but is a powerful DPS. Additionally, the update has seen the release of Dahlia, a 4-star Hydro support whose job is to protect his team comp with shields. There is a lot to do in the update, including unlocking an event with a free character giveaway in Genshin Impact 5.7, but some attention is already shifting toward the upcoming patch and its possible character banner lineup.
Genshin Impact 5.8 May Only Feature One New Character
Ineffa Will Debut In The Next Update
Officially confirmed by the developer, there will be a new character release in Version 5.8. According to a post on the official Genshin Impact page on X (formerly Twitter), Ineffa is a new character from Nod-Krai who will make her debut in the upcoming patch. Ineffa’s status as a Nod-Krai character is confirmed by the ring of faction symbols behind her key art, which features factions like the Lightkeepers, the Frostmoon Scions, and the Fatui. This is also confirmed by her character description, which mentions the Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop from Nod-Krai in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 6.0: All Leaked Fatui Harbingers For Nod-Krai
In Genshin Impact 6.0, players will move to Nod-Krai, and leaks about the update indicate that they will meet with several Fatui Harbingers.
The key art also confirms that Ineffa is an Electro character, though it’s uncertain where her elemental powers stem from. As indicated by the description and seen in the key art, Ineffa is a robot and features elements of that identity in her design, from the head adornment on her ears to the metallic hands she uses to wield a polearm. HoYoverse has not yet confirmed her rarity, but leaks, such as the one shared by user TXENNT on Reddit, have indicated that she will be a 5-star character and will be featured in the upcoming Genshin Impact 5.8 banners.
Leaked Phase 1 Character Banners In Genshin Impact 5.8
Ineffa May Compliment Mualani’s Team Comp
According to the aforementioned leak, Ineffa will debut in Version 5.8, alongside reruns for Mualani, Chasca, and Citlali. At this point, it’s impossible to predict what order the characters will be featured in, but it is likely that at least Ineffa will debut in Phase 1 banners. According to Ineffa’s leaked kit on Honey Hunter World, she will be a 5-star Electro support, being capable of summoning a shield for her allies with her Elemental Skill, which also deals AoE Electro DMG. The leak says that the shield absorbs incoming damage based on Ineffa’s ATK stat in Genshin Impact 5.8.

My Absurd Genshin Impact Theory May Be Closer To Being True Than Ever Before
While HoYoverse has made efforts to keep Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail separate, I’m convinced that both universes will blend in the future.
While ATK will dictate the effectiveness of her shield and damage output, Ineffa will also benefit from Elemental Mastery and will be able to provide an EM buff to allies via a leaked passive ability. Overall, Ineffa should be an off-field support who can contribute to the team’s damage, but shouldn’t be run as a sub-DPS, for example. Meanwhile, the leak also points toward Mualani as a potential rerun character who could appear in Phase 1 banners. Gameplay-wise, it could make sense for them to run in the same banner phase, as Mualani in Genshin Impact could benefit from Ineffa.
Mualani is an on-field DPS who requires some build-up from allies that buff her and set the stage for Hydro DMG attacks that can react with other elements. Because of how long Mualani is expected to stay on the field and the damage potential she carries, Ineffa could be a viable shielder to protect her main DPS while also enabling powerful Electro-Charged reactions due to the interaction of both their elements. Mualani has some issues with how long it takes to build up the stage for her, but she is one of the finest Hydro DPS characters in Genshin Impact.
Mualani needs to accumulate Wave Momentum stacks to increase the damage of her Sharky’s Surging Bite, and that can take a while.
Even though she was released back in Version 5.0 and is, technically, the first 5-star character from Natlan, Mualani will rerun for the very first time in Version 5.8, if the leaks are right. If players missed out on the opportunity to pull for her back then, this may be the perfect time to acquire Mualani, who pales in comparison to Neuvillette, but is a fantastic alternative to the Hydro dragon from Fontaine, if players don’t have him or don’t intend to pull for him in an eventual rerun banner in Genshin Impact.
Leaked Phase 2 Character Banners In Genshin Impact 5.8
Chasca & Citlali Could Rerun For The First Time
The leak also highlights Chasca and Citlali as potential rerun characters in Version 5.8, and they could appear in Phase 2 banners. Chasca is a 5-star Anemo archer who is known for dealing huge amounts of damage against enemies via Swirl reactions that she can trigger via the infusion of elements based on the characters in her team comp. Chasca can trigger these reactions alone, without necessarily requiring allies to apply the elements beforehand, and she works exclusively with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, and Cryo characters.
Regardless of Chasca’s build in Genshin Impact, she has one of the best mobility skills, too, which allows her to fly seamlessly and can significantly enhance exploration.
Citlali, on the other hand, is a reliable 5-star Cryo shielder who can thoroughly protect her allies from damage and contribute with Cryo-related reactions by applying the element to enemies. She is particularly good in Melt and Frozen teams because of the Pyro and Hydro RES shred she applies on enemies, too, making her a full package for several types of teams. Like Mualani, this would be the first time both Chasca and Citlali rerun in banners, too, if the leak is accurate.
It’s worth noting that the exact order of banners is highly subject to change as HoYoverse may alter them to its desire up until the official livestream. It’s also possible that some of the rerun characters will be replaced, though it seems unlikely that will happen since reruns for Mualani, Chasca, and Citlali are all overdue. It’s unclear how Ineffa will actually work in combat, seeing that she is still undergoing changes in the beta tests, but the current rerun lineup seems promising as it features powerful Natlan characters in Genshin Impact.
