With Baldur’s Gate 3 set in the popular Dungeons & Dragons setting of the Forgotten Realms, it makes sense that characters from the massively successful RPG would make an appearance in D&D content. Fan favorite Astarion will be the first to have his own sourcebook, with Astarion’s Book of Hungers being released as a bonus DLC this November. But there are plenty of other amazing BG3 characters who I’d love to see in official adventures in the future.
D&D‘s upcoming Forgotten Realms books look like a great set with plenty for both players and DMs to sink their teeth into. At the same time, Astarion’s Book of Hungers looks like the perfect mix of character-building tools and mini-adventures alongside the sneaky vampire. However, Astarion isn’t the only BG3 character who would benefit from getting a little more time in the spotlight.

A Younger Version Of Kagha Could Follow Her Corruption
A Campaign Set Before BG3 Could Include A Young & Naive Kagha
Kagha might not be the first character to pop into most people’s minds, but I’d love to see her appear in an adventure again. Halsin’s second in command didn’t make the best impression in BG3, with her disproportionate response to Arabella’s theft. However, I think she’s a fascinating example of the different perspectives druids can have about how to protect nature.
Given that players can choose to either save or kill Kagha in BG3, featuring an earlier version of her in a book might be the best choice, and a Forgotten Realms adventure set long before the events of BG3 would open up a lot of storytelling options. I’d love to see how she fell under the influence of the Shadow Druids and who she was before she became the bitter person seen in the Emerald Grove.

Gale Could Guide Future Spellcasters
Let Gale Teach All He Knows In A Sourcebook
Gale is another character that I’d love to explore the early life of, but I think he’d work best in a sourcebook rather than an adventure. Gale’s innate magical abilities and connection to Mystra make him the ideal guide for any magical-themed book for players. Gale would be perfect to explain subclasses, feats, backgrounds, and everything else a player might need to craft the best spellcaster around.
I imagine a book similar to Xanathar’s Guide to Everything or Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, with notes and annotations from Gale about the various character-building options. Obviously, there would need to be some magical items in Gale’s book as well, with jokes and references to the Netherese Orb and his ‘consumption’ of artifacts while fighting the Absolute. Finally, a few new spells from Gale should be included for any aspiring wizards.

Aylin & Isobel’s Story Deserves More Time
An Anthology Featuring The Couple Could Expand Their Backstory
Aylin & Isobel have a wonderfully tragic and touching story, which BG3 doesn’t really get a chance to dive into fully. Both are encountered in Act 2’s Shadow-Cursed Lands, with Isobel helping Jaheira and the Harpers hold down the fort at the Last Last Inn. Meanwhile, Aylin is trapped in the Shadowfell and plays a pivotal role in Shadowheart’s personal quest.
Aylin and Isobel are one of the best non-Tav romances in BG3, and I think they would work fantastically in an anthology adventure book. The pair could act as guides or contacts for the players, sending them on various missions. Just as with Keys from the Golden Vault or Candlekeep Mysteries, an anthology book with them could work as either a series of one-shots or a longer connected campaign.

Rolan Has Great Power At His Fingertips
Allow Players To Shape Rolan’s Future With Their Actions
Rolan is the arrogant tiefling wizard first met in Act 1’s Emerald Grove, and he is easily one of my favorite characters. I love the personal journey that he can go on, which can end in Act 3 with you helping Rolan and Aylin deal with the treacherous Lorroakan. At the end of BG3, Rolan can find himself as the new master of Ramazith’s Tower and the powerful artifacts it contains.
I think Rolan has the capacity to either become a force for good in the Forgotten Realms or its next villain. I’d love to see him in an adventure book playing an important role for the party, starting out as a valuable ally or contact. It would be fun to have the player’s decisions dictate what path Rolan goes down, with him either being a powerful friend to the party or a final boss.

The Nature Of Thaniel Needs More Attention
Exploring The World Of Spirits With Thaniel Would Be Fun
Thaniel is a fascinating character that you can meet in Act 2 as part of Halsin’s personal quest to lift the Shadow Curse. Although he appears as a tiefling child, Thaniel is actually an ancient spirit of nature, and I think that would be an intriguing topic to explore in an adventure. A long campaign would be a great way to delve into Thaniel’s, and by extension, Oliver’s background and essence.
I think it would be awesome to learn about more nature spirits with Thaniel, perhaps needing the party’s help with a threat to them. The book could delve into the world of spirits and even offer up some new subclasses or spells themed around that world. Mechanicals similar to the Trickster gods of Omu in Tomb of Annihilation, offering powers at the cost of flaws, would also be fun to bring back.

Explore Halsin’s Past In An Anthology
We Only Get To Hear About A Few Of His Adventures In BG3
Halsin is a fan favorite going all the way back to BG3’s days in early access, although he underwent significant changes to his backstory. His original iteration would have given Halsin a very different role, and I’d be curious to see if the two versions of the character could be brought together in future content. Just as in BG3, Halsin could start as an adviser to the party before joining them for parts of the adventure.
Like Aylin and Isobel, Halsin might be best suited for an anthology that would allow for aspects of his life to be explored in bite-sized adventures. With 300 years of experience to draw from, it could be a fun way to explore Halsin’s past through missions involving past acquaintances. It would also be a great way to cover all the areas of the Sword Coast that Halsin has travelled to over the years.

Play A Role In Arabella’s Destiny
Learn More About Arabella’s Power In A Full Campaign
Arabella is a wonderful tiefling child who can be met very early on in BG3 inside the Emerald Grove, where she has run afoul of the druids by stealing their idol. You can get directly involved and save the young girl’s life, which results in Arabella being changed. Once she is met again in Act 2, she will reveal strange magic that seems to link her to a grand destiny.
Arabella appears to be a sorcerer with the Idol of Silvanus awakening her innate connection to the Weave.
I’d love a full campaign with Arabella, and I think an adventure where the party must find and aid her could be fantastic. Arabella is very powerful and might not necessarily work well accompanying the party for too long, but she would be perfect as an ally in a final big confrontation with a power-hungry villain.

Lae’zel & The Githyanki Resistance Need Their Own Adventure
More Lae’zel Can Only Be A Good Thing
Among BG3’s Origin characters, Lae’zel is the perfect candidate to have her own adventure book. The stubborn and combative githyanki’s journey through the game’s three acts is one of my favorites, and I love the details we get about githyanki culture. But I want more, and if Lae’zel is encouraged to rebel against Vlaakith, it creates the perfect jumping-off point for a campaign.
The party could help Lae’zel, and potentially Orpheus, ally with the githzerai to wage war on Vlaakith. This would be an exciting way to learn more about gith culture and the Astral Plane from an inside perspective. It would also be wonderful to see more of Lae’zel and interact with her as she continues to find her own path.

Raphael Could Be Villain Or Party Ally
Any Excuse For More Scenery Chewing With Raphael
Raphael is such a great character because he works on so many different levels, with his role within a story changing depending on choices made along the way. As the devil himself says, he could be a friend, adversary, or savior. This makes Raphael the perfect character to bring into a full campaign book, with his role shifting based on the party themselves.
A morally gray party might ally with him or help Raphael achieve his goals, while a more lawful good group might find themselves facing off against him as a secondary big bad. I think it would be good to see Raphael still focused on his goals of domination, but having to pivot to a new plan without the Crown of Karsus in his reach.

Auntie Ethel Is Too Good To Disappear
The Powerful Hag Would Make An Amazing Antagonist
Finally, there is one more BG3 villain that I need to see again in some form in future D&D content. Auntie Ethel is so much fun, so deliciously evil, and has so much fey lore that could be dug into that it would be a crime to never see her again. Ethel can be fought twice in BG3, but with the hag only being killed on the Material Plane, it would be easy for her to return and take revenge.
It would be amazing to see Ethel return with a full coven in tow, perhaps still reeling from the events of Baldur’s Gate 3 but determined to regain her reputation. Just as in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, a trip to the Feywild would be needed to put a stop to Ethel’s schemes once and for all. An alternative for an evil party could be to ally with her or even join her coven to sow chaos back on the Sword Coast.
