10 Lesser-Known Disney Characters Perfect for Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley already has over 50 characters from across dozens of beloved Disney movies and shows. Gameloft and Disney are regularly adding even more familiar faces from across Disney’s vast catalog of franchises.

Some obvious names are still missing at the time of this writing, like the highly requested Snow White. Naturally, fans want to see more of the most popular Disney characters appear in the game as villagers.

What about the underdogs, though—the lesser-known characters and franchises that don’t get as much love? There’s room for the more obscure and niche names in Dreamlight Valley, too. These characters would be right at home with the rest of the villagers in the Valley. Even if they’re not as popular, they’re still beloved by many fans and deserve to be remembered just as much as Mickey Mouse and his popular friends.

Kuzco From The Emperor’s New Groove

A Highly Requested Character

Emperor Kuzco in The Emperor's New Groove

Kuzco is the hilariously arrogant emperor protagonist of The Emperor’s New Groove, who gets turned into a llama for his narcissistic ways. The 2000 movie is a fun adventure in personal growth that leans more heavily into comedy and hijinks than many of the other films, and it’s become a favorite among many fans despite not being as well-known as some of Disney’s heavy hitters.

Besides Kuzco, the villain’s hapless henchman, Kronk, would also be a great addition to Dreamlight Valley, bringing with him the potential for another restaurant with a collection of very different recipes. In fact, there’s already a nod to the character in Kronk’s Spinach Puffs, a recipe inspired by the movie.

The Dwarves From Snow White

They Could Auto-Harvest The Mines

Snow White is one of the most highly requested characters in Dreamlight Valley. As a classic Disney princess, the black-haired character feels like she belongs in the Valley, but she’s been largely overlooked by Gameloft.

But while Snow White is the obvious addition, the Dwarves would make even more sense. It’s surprising that they haven’t yet made an appearance to do for the mines what Wall-E does for farming and Moana does for fishing.

Now that Aladdin has brought a gem stall to the Valley, it seems less likely that players will be able to send Sneezy to auto-mine gems for them, but the adorable personalities of the Snow White characters would be fun to have around the Valley.

Ichabod Crane From The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

Keep An Eye Out For The Headless Horseman

Ichabod Crane from Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

In 2024, Dreamlight Valley players were sorely disappointed that the fall update wasn’t actually fall-themed. The perfect way to remedy that in future years would be to add more spooky characters around autumn and Halloween. And, when it comes to spooky Disney things, nothing beats the classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

The 1940s film tells the story of straight-laced schoolteacher Ichabod Crane, and the Headless Horseman who appears on Halloween with a Jack-O-Lantern as a removable head. I’d love to have Crane wander around the Valley and randomly get chased away by the Headless Horseman.

Basil from The Great Mouse Detective

A Mouse-Sized Sherlock Holmes

The Great Mouse Detective is an older film from 1986 that didn’t make as much of a mark as other Disney films. It’s still many fans’ childhood favorite, in part thanks to the delightful animal cast of characters.

The movie is a homage to Sherlock Holmes, starring the titular mouse detective Basil as the mystery-solving sleuth and David Q. Dawson, a retired army surgeon mouse, filling in for Watson.

Bringing both into Dreamlight Valley has so much potential, like the Baker Street residence and the potential companion of Toby, the Basset Hound. Basil and Dawson could even solve mysteries around the Valley, like asking players to help look for missing items.

Milo From Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Bring In An Underwater Realm

Milo and Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Atlantis: The Lost Empire was a critical flop when it hit theaters in 2001, and it never quite caught on like other Disney films in subsequent years. That said, the movie’s main character, Milo, should still be brought to Dreamlight Valley because he’d be bringing the entirety of Atlantis with him.

Gameloft missed an opportunity with Ariel, and Milo’s Atlantis would provide a second chance at a magical new environment: an underwater biome. Exploring an underwater civilization would bring so many new ideas to the cozy game, from the awesome Ulysses Submarine to the sunken city of Atlantis itself.

The Hatbox Ghost From Haunted Mansion

A Nod At Real-World Disney Lore

The Hatbox Ghost in The Haunted Mansion Looking Creepy.

As famous as the Disney franchises and shows are, the rides have gained their own, more niche fan following. Some characters only appear in Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and bringing one of those into the game as a side character would be a fun way to acknowledge their existence and add an Easter egg for those in the know.

One of the best options for this is the Hatbox Ghost from the Haunted Mansion ride in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The creepy grinning ghost that holds up his own head is infamous for disappearing without a trace in the 1960s, only to reappear in 2015.

The vanishing ghost is so well-known that it appeared in Disney Emoji Blitz, so it wouldn’t be completely out of place if the ghost made its way into Dreamlight Valley, too.

4

Esméralda From The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Paris-Inspired Decor And Buildings

Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame

As far as Disney movies go, The Hunchback of Notre Dame isn’t completely obscure, but it’s definitely not the best-known of the franchises. The movie is still loved by many, and Esméralda would be welcomed into the Valley by fans.

The Romani character has a very distinct style that would look great in the Valley. Introducing her to the game would also bring Paris-inspired decor and housing or even the Notre Dame, itself. Anyone from the movie would also fit right in, from Quasimodo himself to Clopin.

However, this franchise seems to be the least likely to make an appearance in the game for now—while other IPs have been mentioned in items and decor pieces, The Hunchback of Notre Dame hasn’t appeared in the game at all.

3

Orville, Bernard, And Bianca From The Rescuers

Soar Above The Grasses And Help Find Gems

The Rescuers Disney Movie

There’s already a resident rodent in Dreamlight Valley, but Remy is so small that he can be hard to find in the underbrush. (I constantly mistake him for a squirrel.) Mouse agents Bernard and Bianca would make an excellent addition to the Valley thanks to their flying albatross mount, Orville.

Bernard and Bianca could soar above the grasses atop Orville as they explored areas of the Valley. Thanks to their connection to diamonds, they could even offer players an assist in locating gems.

2

Pain And Panic From Hercules

Mayhem And Mischief In Two Bite-Sized Packages

So far, the only character from Hercules to make his way to the Valley is the villain, Hades. Although Hercules himself and his companions haven’t actually made an appearance in Dreamlight Valley, the secondary characters of Pain and Panic should precede them.

These mischievous imps are technically the bad guys, but they’re so lovable you can’t help but root for them. Hades’s two lackeys could run around the valley, causing chaos the way the Cheshire Cat did. They’d also make awesome familiars. Since the two come in a pair, there’s even the potential to give them special interaction animations in multiplayer.

Madam Mim From The Sword In The Stone

Merlin’s Nemesis Would Make Perfect Sense In The Valley

Madam Mim looking goofy in The Sword In The Stone.

Merlin plays an important role in Dreamlight Valley, acting as the player’s guide and issuing many important quests and objectives. Though he’s appeared in multiple movies, Disney’s version of Merlin first debuted in the 1963 film The Sword in the Stone.

Naturally, it would make sense to bring in Merlin’s arch-nemesis from the same movie, Madam Mim. The purple-hued witch acts as the movie’s main antagonist, and her quirky appearance and shape-shifting abilities make her quite memorable.

Madam Mim could engage Merlin in a duel or cause trouble that players have to resolve. She’d make the perfect more obscure addition to the Disney Dreamlight Valley collection of characters.
