The two Marvel heroes are both driven by rage, and are almost always itching for a brawl, but their latest fight gives new meaning to their interactions in their shared comic history.
In the preview to New Avengers #3, by Sam Humphries and Ton Lima, Wolverine once again faces a rampaging Hulk.
However, this time, it is Logan’s daughter, Laura Kinney, under the mask, carrying on the torch of the Hulk vs Wolverine rivalry, as she joins the new Avengers to save Bruce Banner from being imprisoned in the Hulkscape.

Wolverine’s debut in The Incredible Hulk #180, by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe, kick-started his iconic rivalry with Marvel’s Jade Giant. While Wolverine and Hulk are not truly mortal enemies, their shared proclivities for extreme violence, inner rage, and hair-trigger tempers more often than not lead them to lash out and propel the two men to come to blows.
However, as Laura Kinny now dons the Wolverine title and joins the New Avengers to rescue Bruce Banner, the Hulk vs Wolverine takes on a whole new meaning, with blind rage no longer being the driving force behind their altercation. Wolverine is no longer fighting the Hulk to hurt him; Laura is fighting to save Bruce Banner from himself.
This showdown also takes an interesting direction when Laura admits Wolverine has given her the rundown of his times fighting the Hulk, revealing Logan had a lot to say about his long-time opponent. This moment indicates Wolverine has briefed Laura on how to fight the Hulk, which begs the question whether Laura Kinney can take on the Hulk.

Hulk is one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Universe, and Laura Kinney has actually fought him once before, when she went by her original codename, X-23. This encounter did not bode well for Laura, yet she has gained experience as a fighter and a hero in the time since, suggesting this time could go differently.
Despite Laura initially losing to Hulk, with new teammates like Namor and Black Widow, Laura is more than ready to stop the Hulk and rescue Bruce Banner. Laura Kinney fighting the Hulk as Wolverine not only changes the Wolverine vs Hulk rivalry into a more heroic dynamic, but also shows Laura has come into her own, donning the Wolverine mantle.
