Jude Law’s Uncertain Star Wars Future After Skeleton Crew Finale

Seven months after the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew finale was released, Jude Law provides an uncertain update about his potential future in the franchise. Law plays the Force-sensitive pirate Jod Na Nawood in the Star Wars show, where he crosses paths with four children he believes can lead him to the treasures of At Attin.

With a 92% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, Skeleton Crew reviews were overwhelmingly positive. The series received extensive praise for being a thrilling adventure that got back to the original Star Wars‘ roots, didn’t require knowledge from other stories in the franchise, and featured stellar performances from the entire cast, including from Law.

During a ScreenRant interview with Law for his new film Eden, he was asked whether there is a future for Jod in Star Wars. He explains that in the finale, Jod is also thinking about how his story can continue. While Law is unable to reveal whether there are plans for Jod to appear again, he emphasizes how much he enjoyed being part of the show. Check out his comments below:

Jude Law: Well, you kind of put the answer in my mouth. That thinking, I hope you get to see this man again. And he’s thinking, “There must be a way out of this so that my story can continue.”

ScreenRant: Have you heard any updates or are you confident we’ll see ’em again?

Jude Law: I’m sure you appreciate there are so many moving parts to that colossus. All I can say is we had a really exceptional time making it. It was done with such grace, spirit and inclusion and collaboration. I had a ball, and at times was allowed to overindulge, I think, in my own childhood fantasies of being in the Star Wars universe. But I was very, very pleased with the results and very happy to have had the opportunity to work with that extraordinary group of directors.

What This Means For Jude Law’s Star Wars Future

Right now, there are no confirmed plans for Skeleton Crew season 2 or for Jod to appear again, but that does not necessarily mean his Star Wars story is over. Jod is last seen alive and free from the authorities when the New Republic arrives and saves the citizens of At Attin from pirates.

He is most likely still alive after Skeleton Crew‘s ending, and given his many years as an Order 66 survivor and pirate able to evade those hunting him, there is a good chance of him managing to evade the New Republic forces on At Attin. Between these in-universe factors, Skeleton Crew‘s positive reception, and Law’s enthusiasm, he may appear again in the coming years.

Even if Skeleton Crew season 2 doesn’t happen, Jod could be in other projects that take place in the same time period, including The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, Ahsoka season 2, or Dave Filoni’s untitled film. His history as a Jedi survivor and pirate could even prove useful in the fight against the Imperial Remnant.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed Law’s performance in Skeleton Crew, I would love to see Jod again and explore how he adapts after his failure on At Attin. It would be fascinating to see him caught up in the escalating conflict between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant and to see him interact with other Order 66 survivors like Ahsoka Tano.

At the same time, Jod’s story and the overall narrative of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew does feel complete by the end of season 1. There is definitely more that could be done with his character, but it does not feel essential given the satisfying conclusion to his arc.
