Jenna Ortega & Gwendoline Christie’s Viral Photo Showcases Height Difference

The second half Wednesday season 2 is premiering on Netflix on September 3, but a press photo featuring Jenna Ortega and Gwendoline Christie is stealing the show’s thunder, and for an absurd reason. Ortega plays the title character of the show, while Christie portrays Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy who has ties to her family.

Wednesday‘s first season was a massive hit with audiences, with the show beating Stranger Things‘ record of 335 million hours for most watch-time in one week on Netflix with 41 million hours.

Wednesday was well-received by critics as well, with the series being nominated for 12 Emmy Awards in 2023, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and won 4 of those nominations. Wednesday season 2’s Rotten Tomatoes score is already higher than season 1.

In a photo from an event celebrating the release of Wednesday season 2, Christie and Ortega stand side by side in stylish outfits. However, the photo did not go viral for the star’s outfits, but rather for their very noticeable height difference.

Christie is 6’3, while Ortega stands at 5’1, making their height difference over one foot, and people are rushing to social media to poke fun. Check out comments from X users below:

What This Means For Wednesday Season 2

The first half of the show’s new season was released on August 6, showcasing several main character deaths in Wednesday season 2, and the second half is releasing in a matter of weeks. But, the most virality surrounding the show is due to the stars’ height difference instead of the show’s content itself.

There is a possibility that the new season’s release could be overshadowed by jokes on the internet, due to the show and its cast members being made into a meme before the second season has a chance to finish airing.

Wednesday season 1 premiered on November 23, 2022 on Netflix.

However, people seem to be excited about the series, thus explaining why they are fixated on claiming that Christie looks like Ortega’s mom when the two hugged each other at the mentioned event. So, the fact that online users are so obsessed over the two stars’ height difference may cause more views for season 2 instead of less, because the attention could raise interest in the show.

Our Take On The Viral Photos

While the online attention towards Ortega and Christie is humorous, it is unnecessary to be so fixated on people’s bodies instead of their talent. Christie is significantly taller than Ortega, but there should be more interest in Wednesday‘s plotlines instead of Christie and Ortega’s height difference.

However, as long as Ortega and Christie are not uncomfortable with the comments online, then it could be considered just some light fun. But, hopefully the attention turns more to the actual show than the jokes made at the stars’ expense, because Wednesday is arguably one of Netflix’s best TV shows right now.
