WWE champion Becky Lynch expects to be called back to guest star in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2. Executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy revealed its first teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con. Lynch was announced as a guest star in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 in December 2024.

Although Lynch wasn’t seen in the trailer, it was fans’ first look at the next Paramount+ Star Trek series headlined by Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter and Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 wrapped filming in February, and production for season 2 is slated to start in the fall of 2025.

Appearing as a guest on fellow WWE Champion and Star Trek fan Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Becky Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin) raved about her experience filming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1. “It was great. I loved it. I believe I’m coming back for the second season, which I think they’re going to be filming soon. It was an incredible experience. You’re going through 12-14 hour days, and I didn’t want to leave. I loved every second of it because you’re around all these great minds. Great director, producer, writers, and actors. Getting to play opposite Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti. Just how good they are.”

Since Becky Lynch wasn’t seen in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy‘s first teaser trailer, details about her character are still unknown. However, Lynch’s positive experience and the wonderful things she has to say about Starfleet Academy’s cast and filming bodes well for her to return in season 2.

Becky Lynch’s mysterious Star Trek: Starfleet Academy character was initially announced as part of a starship’s crew. We now know Holly Hunter’s part-Lanthanite Chancellor, Captain Nahla Ake, also commands the USS Athena, a 32nd-century starship that doubles as Starfleet Academy’s campus when it docks in San Francisco. Lynch’s character must serve on the Athena with Captain Ake.

The fact that Becky Lynch is publicly musing about returning for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 is also a good sign that indicates that Becky’s character survives season 1, and the threat posed by Paul Giamatti’s half-Klingon/half-Tellarite hybrid villain, Nus Braka.

Our Take On Becky Lynch Returning For Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2

Becky Lynch joining Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was a pleasant surprise, especially to fans of her WWE persona, dubbed “The Man” and “Big Time Becks.” Becky Lynch is the current WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, but there’s no reason why her wrestling schedule couldn’t accommodate filming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 if Becky gets called back.

Ironically, Cody Rhodes is a massive Star Trek fan himself who walked the red carpet at Star Trek: Picard season 3’s premiere. It’s surprising that Cody, who co-stars in The Naked Gun with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, hasn’t been tapped to appear in Star Trek. Perhaps Becky Lynch can put in a good word for “The American Nightmare.”
