Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Spin-off Prequel Reveals U.S. Release Date
The light novel spin-off titled Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End ~Prelude~ is part of the latest licenses announced by the publisher Yen Press. In a post on Yen Press’s official X account, it was revealed that the English release of Frieren’s spin-off is scheduled for March 2026, featuring five stories focused on Frieren, Fern, Stark, Lawine, Kanne, and the demon Aura.
The light novel was originally released in Japan on April 17, 2024, and gives the spotlight to secondary characters, such as Kanne and Lawine, who were introduced in the anime during the First-Class Mage Exam, as well as Aura the Guillotine, delving into her previous encounter with Himmel and offering a fresh perspective on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End‘s story.
This spin-off was supervised by Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End‘s author, Kanehito Yamada, with illustrations by the original artist, Abe Tsukasa. Additionally, the spin-off was written by Mei Hachimoku, known for his emotional novel-turned-film The Tunnel to Summer, The Exit of Goodbyes, hinting that the author is the perfect fit to capture the essence of Frieren‘s story.
