The author of Bridgerton just teased who season 5’s lead character may be. The hit Netflix television show is based on the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn. The story follows the eight Bridgerton children, a powerful and influential family in high society England during the Regency Era. Each season of the show primarily focuses on a single Bridgerton sibling as they navigate both high society and finding love.
In a post on Instagram, Quinn shared a collage of photos of her and Claudia Jessie, who portrays Eloise Bridgerton, speaking behind the scenes on set back in 2019. The photos feature Quinn asking Jessie if she has read the book about Eloise, and if she knows what’s going to happen, to which Jessie responds, “I know everything.”
Along with the image, the caption reads “Looking back… and looking ahead. Photos from 2019, collage and transcript from @_inmylibrary_ (thank you!) #Bridgerton #philoise #tosirphillipwithlove.” The hashtags with the name of Eloise’s book, and the ship name of Eloise and Phillip potentially allude to Eloise’s love story being the focus of season 5. What This Means For Bridgerton Season 5
With three seasons out, and Bridgerton season 4 on the way, the books already indicate what will happen in the already renewed seasons 5 and 6. Shonda Rhimes recently revealed that she intends for there to be eight seasons, with each one following a Bridgerton child.
It makes sense with the tease from Quinn, as well as the fifth book in the Bridgerton series focusing on Eloise, that season 5 would revolve around Eloise as well. With that being said, nothing is confirmed, and season 5 could very well revolve around another character.
The order has not always followed the books, as the third season revolved around Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, when in the books it followed Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Beckett, so nothing is set in stone yet.
Our Take On Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton Season 5 Tease
Although nothing is confirmed yet, to have Eloise be the main focus of Bridgerton season 5 would be a great story to tell. Throughout the seasons, Eloise is seen seeking her independence and questioning the expectations that society has set upon women in the Regency Era.
To see someone who still has independence and questions those expectations, but still finds love regardless would be a fascinating story to be able to see play out during season 5. In the first three seasons, Eloise has struggled with the idea of women and marriage, so to see her take on still being independent and offering an alternative to traditional romance that is still compelling would be great to see, and hopefully sooner than later.
Even though Eloise’s story would be fantastic to see in season 5, there is a rhyme and reason to everything that Bridgerton does. Her full arc will eventually be shown, and if it happens to be later, the series will still make a great story out of season 5 following, regardless of which Bridgerton sibling they choose to focus on at the moment.
