New DC Universe set photos give a closer look at the titular villain in the upcoming Clayface movie. While the Batman mythology is making its way into the DCU timeline, audience members will actually see one of Bruce Wayne’s famous supervillains before the hero’s solo film.
One of DC Studios’ 2026 projects that is currently being worked on is the Clayface movie, focusing on the famous shapeshifting foe, from a script by Mike Flanagan. James Watkins is directing the film, which stars Tom Rhys Harries in the leading role.
As production continues on the 2026 installment, Daily Mail has landed several new photos of Harries from the DCU film, which is currently being filmed in Liverpool, UK. While he was the only prominent actor spotted in the photos, it’s how he looks that is garnering a lot of attention.

The set images feature Harries’ character – who is rumored to be DC’s Matt Hagen, but has yet to be confirmed by DC Studios – sporting a horrific mask to cover up the damage from the accident that left him disfigured. The scene that they were filming has Harries’ character trying to dodge the swarm of reporters trying to get him to make a statement.
@JackkDoylee also shared several photos of a detailed Gotham map, referencing several key locations from Bruce Wayne’s city in the DC canon. Listings include Wayne Manor, Arkham Asylum, Crime Alley, Iceberg Lounge, Wayne Industries, and Blackgate Penitentiary.
What The New Clayface Set Photos Reveal
Based on the latest images, the mask is likely the result of what was seen in the Clayface set photos, where Harries’ character has gone through his accident and is seemingly being rushed to the hospital. This also leans to the horror aspect of the DCU entry before it leans more into the monstrous elements of the plot.
Given how the story is reportedly set to focus on an actor who is trying to stay relevant in Hollywood, that would explain why he would be surrounded by reporters, especially if he is now left disfigured. This could also be prior to him getting his shapeshifting powers, which is why he is hiding behind a mask for the time being.
Our Take On The New Clayface Set Photos
The R-rated horror adventure is already looking to be one of the most promising projects from the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” but also adding something new to the comic book film genre. The concept of a Hollywood actor who is trying to stay relevant, but with a DC twist to it, allows the film to stand out from other superhero stories.
Watkins’ comic book installment is also allowing James Gunn’s franchise to build out the world of Gotham City, including references to Joker and other fun Easter eggs. As Clayface continues principal photography, time will tell what future set photos and videos will reveal about the film.
