Sauron has another deception on the way in The Rings of Power season 3, and it could lead to our one and only chance to see some unique Lord of the Rings characters on screen. Previously, Sauron worked his villainy in Eregion, where he deceived Celebrimbor and his smiths to make the titular Rings of Power. This, naturally, led to Eregion’s destruction, but Sauron set out with a new army and a handful of Rings to hand out to some not-so-lucky Men around Middle-earth. His next stop? Númenor.
The Rings of Power season 2 revealed that Sauron wants to give a couple of his Nine Rings to Númenóreans, and further teases have indicated that the villain will return to this island in the coming episodes. This is (more or less) on track with Tolkien canon. According to the author’s works, the Dark Lord ends up a prisoner at Númenor before he weasels his way into Pharazon’s inner circle. Just as with Eregion, Sauron’s influence won’t mean anything good for the island kingdom. Rings of Power has already set up the disaster to come, but season 3 should see it all play out on screen.

Pharazon Is Sure To Head For Valinor In The Rings Of Power Season 3
Sauron will successfully cause a great deal of chaos in Númenor in the coming episodes of The Rings of Power. Once he has Pharazon in his back pocket, the Dark Lord will begin convincing the High Men that they are deserving of the Elves’ immortality, but that the Valar—demigods of The Lord of the Rings—are keeping it from them. The Valar live on the continent of Aman, to the West of Númenor (while Middle-earth is to the East). The Valar’s shining home, Valinor, is the home that Galadriel has longed for throughout Rings of Power.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 will embark on a new journey that promises to reveal some key lore from J.R.R Tolkien’s world.
Eager to force the Valar to grant him immortality, Pharazon will put together a massive fleet and sail West for Valinor. Of course, Sauron’s implication that such a thing could be taken from the Valar by force will be entirely false. The Númenóreans will successfully land at Aman, but they will have no hope whatsoever of defeating the Valar. Instead, these demigods will call upon the power of the true god of The Lord of the Rings, Eru Ilúvatar, who will then destroy Númenor with the massive wave previously teased in The Rings of Power.
Pharazon and his men in Aman are buried alive by Ilúvatar in the Caves of the Forgotten, where they are doomed to remain until the end of days. So, technically, they get their wish for immortality.
Of course, Rings of Power could make any number of changes to this canon story in season 3. Still, these events have been set up perfectly by previous episodes. Pharazon has usurped the throne, and the prejudice against Elves in Númenor is well established. Sauron may have a few things to do in Middle-earth in season 3, but he will surely head back to Númenor as he previously planned. Regardless of how Rings of Power gets there, we are sure to see the attempted war between Númenor and the Valar play out on screen in season 3.

The demigod-like Valar are a powerful force in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings universe. They had a prominent hand in the creation of Arda and its continents, including Middle-earth, and, as individual characters, they have contributed to some of the most important bloodlines (including that of Elrond, Arwen, and even Aragorn). However, since the Valar remain out of sight throughout the Third Age of Middle-earth, they have yet to be seen on screen in any The Lord of the Rings adaptation.
Though it’s perfectly possible that these beings will remain a bright, unseen force as Pharazon and his fleet approach Valinor, it could be far more effective if we came to see the Valar as true characters.
The Rings of Power season 3 would be the perfect opportunity to see the Valar in the flesh for the first time. Of course, legal rights could make bringing these Lord of the Rings characters to the screen tricky. Only time will tell.
