Death Stranding 2: On the Beach once again has Sam expanding the Chiral Network, at first through Mexico. Bringing new regions into the Chiral Network moves the story forward, but it also provides you with various rewards, including new items and more points to spend in the skill tree. If you primarily follow the main orders, however, you may end up with two areas in Mexico that aren’t connected to the Chiral Network, and it’s not immediately clear how to bring the rest of the region into the fold.
You connect new distribution centers, cities, and shelters to the Chiral Network with Sam’s Q-Pid. This is most commonly done automatically after you complete a main order and arrive at a new facility. Just like the first game, an expedition has preceded Drawbridge through Australia to lay the groundwork for the Chiral Network; it’s just up to Sam to convince everyone to join.
Two Preppers Are Optional When Connecting Mexico To The Chiral Network
The Bokka & The Artist
If you’re struggling to bring all of Mexico into the Chiral Network, first make sure you’ve advanced the main story far enough to get access to the Plate Gate, which leads to Australia. The Former Geophysics Research Lab will be the final mandatory addition to the Chiral Network before Sam’s emotional journey continues on the other side of the globe.
With that done, there are likely two areas left in Mexico, homes to the Bokka and the Artist. You can see the locations of their shelters on the map above. The Bokka is almost directly west of Ciudad Nudo del Norte, in a valley on the edge of the mountains. The Artist is northwest of the South Distribution Center, tucked high into the mountains, but accessible by a steep trail leading down in the Distribution Center’s direction.
How To Connect The Bokka & The Artist To The Chiral Network
Reach A One-Star Connection Level With Each
Even if you make it to the Bokka or the Artist’s shelter, you may find the terminal unusable. The only way to gain access to the terminal is to have their lost cargo in your possession. To find items belonging to the Bokka, search between his shelter and Ciudad Nudo del Norte, and around the MULE outpost to the north. The Artist will likely have lost cargo along the route to her shelter from the South Distribution Center.
Keep an eye out for lost cargo with the Odradek Scanner throughout the whole game. Picking up a lost item will put the owner’s location on your map if you haven’t been there yet.
Bringing a single piece of lost cargo may not be enough to convince the Bokka and the Artist to join the Chiral Network, though; you need to get each of them to a one-star connection level. This will likely require you to bring two or three lost pieces of cargo to their shelter. The Bokka’s lost cargo was a bit tougher for me to find, since it was more spread out, but I found enough on my first trek up to the Artist’s shelter to reach the required connection level.
Consider Completing Orders For The Bokka & The Artist After They’re On The Chiral Network
Both Have Good Rewards
Once you get the Bokka and the Artist on the Chiral Network, each of their terminals will provide orders for you to fulfill, and they’ll request orders from other terminals. I recommend doing at least a couple for both of them, because their rewards can be helpful early on. Increasing your connection with the Bokka to two stars and beyond will get you data to fabricate delivery gear, including the game’s first specialty boots. Doing likewise with the Artist will unlock more customization colors, which can be used to change the color of Sam’s suit, backpack, and more.
The one-star threshold for Chiral Network connection is upheld throughout the entire game. Once you get to Australia, preppers throughout the continent won’t be convinced to join the Chiral Network until you’ve brought them enough of their lost belongings to earn a full star. Similarly, new items are awarded by every terminal owner for reaching the next full star on their connection level (and you may see some unhinged Easter eggs), so it’s worth it to take some time and complete optional orders in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, even if most are carried over from the first game.
