Paris Jackson Reveals Lack of Involvement in Michael Jackson Biopic

Paris Jackson provides her honest reaction to the upcoming biopic Michael and her involvement. Michael is a music biopic of the King of Pop, featuring Jaafar Jackson (Michael Jackson’s real-life nephew) as the well-known singer. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and also features Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Kat Graham, Laura Harrier, and Larenz Tate.

There was a world where Michael would have already been released. After delays, they also were once set for release next month, in October 2025. However, a series of legal battles caused the film significant challenges, and it is now delayed until April of next year.

Taking to social media, Paris Jackson gets honest about how much she was actually involved in the film. According to her, she had “0% involvement.” She went on to say that she had read one of the first drafts, and did not like what she saw. The team apparently did not take that to heart.

After this point, she said that she decided to leave the film “alone, because it’s not [her] project.” Check out the full statement from Jackson below:

@kingofbingo don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol that is so weird. I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t adress it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.

So I just butted out and I’ve left it alone because it’s not my project. So, you know, they’re going to make whatever they’re going to make.

A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you are going to be happy with [the movie]. Like, a big section — the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy. And they’re going to be happy with it.

What This Means For Michael

Michael Jackson smiles toward the camera.

This statement sends a very different message than that of actor Domingo, who Jackson references directly in the quote (by his handle @kingofbingo). Earlier this week, Domingo claimed that Paris Jackson and her brother Prince were “very much in support of [the] film.” He even said that he had talked to Paris Jackson, and that she had been “nothing but lovely and warm.”

While Jackson’s conversation with Domingo may not have been an utter fabrication, as she does report to having read an early script draft, it sounds like the Oscar nominee has severely romanticized Jackson’s involvement with the film. According to her, she had a much more dissatisfying level of involvement, wherein she was left out of the bulk of the process.

This is somewhat surprising given how much the Michael Jackson estate has been involved in the film. In fact, the blame fell on Michael producers and estate executors John McClain and John Branca when a major legal oversight caused a script overhaul and rewrites.

Paris Jackson’s recent quote suggests that Michael has mostly focused on involving this legal team, rather than authentically incorporating the opinions of the music star’s family. The result was not satisfying to her, and left her feeling that there were “dishonest” sections.

Our Take On Paris Jackson’s Involvement In Michael

It will be interesting to see how this bad press from Paris Jackson ends up affecting Michael. By largely leaving out his pedophilia accusations from later in his life, Michael is already going to be controversial and upset some people. If Jackson’s own family is also upset about it, this could negatively impact viewers’ opinion on the movie.
