A Mare of Easttown replacement show is dominating streaming charts just days after its debut. Mare of Easttown was released in April 2021, with Kate Winslet in the leading role as a troubled cop investigating the murder of a young mother in small town America, and is considered one of the greatest TV miniseries of all time.
Created by Brad Inglesby, Mare of Easttown is one of HBO’s best TV shows of all time, and earned Winslet a Primetime Emmy Award. Since its conclusion, there has been speculation that the masterpiece show might return for season 2, but, instead, Ingelsby has released a follow-up show, which is even darker and grittier, and is dominating HBO’s charts.
Task Is Dominating HBO Max
Per FlixPatrol, Task is dominating the HBO Max charts, debuting at #2 on the charts, below only Peacemaker season 2, and clocking 532 million minutes viewed. This is a strong ranking considering the show has only released its first episode, and, with six more episodes set to air weekly, the show could even take the top spot.
While Task has not debuted to Mare of Easttown‘s near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, the show has still been well-received, and the fact that it is ranking well on streaming shows how well audiences have taken to it. With six episodes still to air, there’s even a chance that Task could wind up being better than Mare of Easttown.
The cast of HBO’s Task is headed by Mark Ruffalo, in the role of an FBI agent who leads a task force to stop a series of violent armed robberies carried out by a family man. A bleak, unflinching crime drama, Task pulls no punches when it comes to violence and dark, gritty storytelling, and has the potential to rank better than its predecessor.
Our Take On Task’s Streaming Future
Task has all the elements in place to be one of the most iconic crime dramas of all time, and though there has been no season 2 update yet, there is no reason why the show can’t return. Though it was planned as a miniseries, if Task proves successful enough, there is every chance the show could be back for another season.
As one of the leading names in crime drama, Inglesby has made a name for himself as one of the most exciting writers currently working. Task is sure to be full of twists, turns, revelations, and deep character studies, and there is a good chance the show will spend a lot longer on the HBO Max chart for the foreseeable future.
