Of all the difficult areas in Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hunter’s March appears to be giving players the most trouble. Placed very close to the beginning of the game, well before tough spots like Bilewater or Mount Fay, Hunter’s March is absolutely littered with tough enemies, and requires mastery of a very finicky movement mechanic.
Player frustrations with Hunter’s March are seemingly ubiquitous, and Silksong offers little reprieve: you don’t even have a map when you first arrive in this area, and finding one is more difficult than it initially appears. Here’s how to get a map for Hunter’s March in Hollow Knight: Silksong, as well as a quick guide to all the most important collectibles and landmarks around the area.

Finding Shakra In Hunter’s March
As soon as you spawn into Hunter’s March, you’ll be faced with a strange sight: a withered, orange fruit hanging above a bed of spikes. If you’ve played Hollow Knight, or explored certain other areas in Silksong, you may already know what to do.
If not, here’s your guide to a vital movement technique called pogo jumping. Find a safe platform to practice. Imagine your thumbstick is a compass, then jump – while Hornet is in the air, point the left stick either southwest or southeast, and press the attack button. She should sail downwards, needle pointed out, in a diagonal downward attack.
Now, this is handy in battle, but it has a hidden second use: when you hit certain objects, like the orange bulb/fruit, with this downward attack, Hornet will bounce off them with a slight upward momentum. You can use this technique to “pogo” across wide gaps. Some areas will require you to chain multiple pogo jumps together, including Hunter’s March.
Pogo across the first gap in Hunter’s March, then run right into the next room. Continue forward until you come to the next bed of spikes, and pogo across the three bulbs in front of you, landing on the platform above you and to your left.
You’ll next see a larger group of orange bulbs; start with the one on the lower left, then pogo over to the right, and follow them up, in a diagonal line, until you land on the platform to your right.
Don’t be surprised if this takes several tries. If you’re struggling, try adjusting your position in the air so that you’re directly diagonal from the bulb you want to bounce off of. You may also need to press the attack button in faster succession than you’re used to.
Do the same with the set of three bulbs in front of you, then go right into the next room. Now, this room is full of powerful enemies and useful loot, and it’s a decent spot for farming Rosaries – but we’ll come back for all that after we unlock the map and a bench to save you some frustration.
As soon as you enter, pogo up and to the right. Land on the upper platform, and continue right, simply jumping over the red ant enemy here. Pogo over two more bulbs to the left to grab a Rosary Necklace on the small upper-right platform.
Drop all the way down and slightly to the right, landing on the small platform with a patrolling red ant. Beat it – it’ll die instantly if you push it into the spikes – then pogo over to the right again. Jump over this larger enemy, then pogo over the distant bulb to the exit at the right.
In the next room, pogo over the three bulbs and walk slightly forward to enter a battle arena. Here, you’ll face multiple waves of enemies with the help of none other than Shakra, the map merchant.
This is a tough battle that, in and of itself, sent me back to the bench many times over. When possible, try to focus on the aerial enemies first, as their projectiles and positioning can be annoying when trying to dodge ground attacks. For the fifth and final wave, I just focused on dodging while Shakra took care of damage.
Once it’s over, though, Shakra will open up shop in the exact same spot. You can buy the Hunter’s March map for 70 Rosaries.
All Important Locations In Hunter’s March
Benches, Secrets, & More
There’s only one bench in Hunter’s March, and unless you have the glide or the double jump ability, it can be difficult to get to. If you want to attempt it, head for the big vertical room near the east side of the area map. Jump and pogo up until you reach the third corridor down on the left side.
Do note that this bench is trapped. Before you attempt to sit in it, break the wall to the left, then flip the lever to deactivate the trap. You may then sit in it to unlock a new respawn point.
From that same vertical room, if you enter the bottom-right passage and follow it all the way to the end, you’ll find a Memory Locket, which you can use to add an extra slot to your crest. Jump up to the higher passage from there to face the Savage Beastfly for a chance to earn the Beast Crest.
There’s another gauntlet fight and the Curveclaw tool in the top-left chamber off the big vertical room. And I’d recommend meeting Gilly in the top-right chamber for a little story context. Otherwise, most of the loot in Hunter’s March is replaceable elsewhere, so don’t tear your hair out trying to 100% this Hollow Knight: Silksong area.
Back in the vertical room, take the second passage down on the left to meet Mottled Skarr, a merchant who’ll sell you a variety of different tools.
