These are the biggest surprises and snubs at the 2025 Emmy Awards that took place on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The ceremony was broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ live from the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT.

Katherine LaNasa Wins Best Supporting Actress (Drama) Over 4 White Lotus Nominees
The first surprise of the 2025 Emmys was Katharine LaNasa winning Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She defeated four nominees from the ensemble cast of The White Lotus season 3, including Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood, previous winner Natasha Rothwell, and frontrunner Parker Posey.
It was LaNasa’s first nomination and first-ever win for her role of Dana Evans in the acclaimed HBO series The Pitt.
Tramell Tillman Wins Best Supporting Actor Drama Over 3 White Lotus Nominees
Both the Supporting Actor & Actress in a Drama Series categories went to two well-deserving underdogs. Tramell Tillman of Severance acclaim won for his role of Seth Milchick. It was also his first nomination and first-ever Emmy win.
Tillman defeated two of his Severance co-stars, John Turturro and Zach Cherry, as well as three White Lotus nominees, including Jason Isaacs, Sam Rockwell, and many people’s frontrunner Walton Goggins.
Britt Lower Wins Best Actress (Drama) Over Matlock’s Kathy Bates
The 2025 Emmys kicked off the night with three back-to-back-to-back first-time winners on first-time nominations. Britt Lower won Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role of Helly R, defeating Kath Bates of Matlock in the process, who was considered to be the frontrunner.
