Matches in Marvel Rivals can get chaotic, with every character using multiple abilities in teams of six at the same time. Some heroes are more mobile than others when using their skills, especially Spider-Man, who can use his custom-made webbing to swing around the battlefield. However, one player has discovered that Spider-Man’s wall-crawling abilities aren’t the only thing that was translated into the hero shooter.
Reddit user Opposite_Tomorrow_40 seems to have experienced some of the lore-accurate “Parker Luck” in Marvel Rivals, as you can see in the clip below. Here, the player uses a Spider-Man web-swing to reach a higher location on the map, only to swing right into an opening Doctor Strange portal right as it is being made. As a result, Spider-Man flies into the enemy team’s spawn, getting attacked and eliminated almost instantly.
Is This The Worst Luck In Marvel Rivals?
Spider-Man Sometimes Can’t Catch A Break
Other Reddit users, such as blue23454, accurately compare this unfortunate set of circumstances to Peter Parker’s own luck in the comics. In Marvel Comics, Peter Parker often has to balance the mantle of Spider-Man alongside his home life, keeping a secret identity and upholding the great responsibility of a hero. This leads to moments of “Parker Luck,” or instances where nothing on both sides of Peter’s life goes well for him. This superstition has been proven accurate multiple times, with Spider-Man’s two lives often going wrong in every way imaginable.

“He Is Trying His Best”: Learning Dr. Strange Portal Tech In Marvel Rivals Isn’t As Easy As It Appears
This Marvel Rivals Dr. Strange player got a bit confused about how to use portals, letting the enemy team skate right on through with ease.
The odds of running into an enemy Doctor Strange portal in Marvel Rivals aren’t rare, but doing so right as it gets opened is almost impossible. When combined with Spider-Man’s excellent mobility within the game, you would almost have to plan this specific set of circumstances for it to happen.
What makes this clip even more unlikely is how Spider-Man went through the portal to the worst situation they could have possibly gotten. Since a portal would get the enemy team to the objective faster, every enemy of Spider-Man’s was surrounding their Doctor Strange. This made it so that Spider-Man appeared right in front of every opponent at once, leading to all targets on his back without hesitation.
Marvel Rivals Can Be Unintentionally Hilarious
Some Abilities Clash In Unexpected Ways
As Reddit user ThrowAwayInDisguise describes, this 1 in 14 million set of odds to happen to Spider-Man isn’t even the only time that Doctor Strange’s portal has led to hilarious outcomes. Many players have found creative and fun uses for the ability, from trapping enemies in their spawn to luring them into portals that drop them off the map. Some clever Doctor Strange players even set up a portal in front of another portal being created by another Strange.
Funny interactions between characters are not exclusive to Doctor Strange either, as Spider-Man can also turn the tables for laugh-out-loud moments. For example, Spider-Man can web-swing off a map and use one of his abilities to drag an enemy over the edge, eliminating them before fleeing. These hit-and-run tactics lead to many “Wtf?” moments that you may have seen clipped on various social media sites.
From Emma Frost’s choke slam interrupting Ultimates to Magneto’s Ultimate gobbling up Iron Man’s Maximum Pulse, there are plenty of situations in the game that make it feel dynamic. The sheer number of characters and abilities will inevitably lead to more funny situations in Marvel Rivals, but a clip like this Spider-Man/Doctor Strange interaction may only ever happen this one time to someone with true “Parker Luck.”
