The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) just released its newest set, Mega Evolution, which includes some strong cards for gameplay as well as several absolutely stunning collectible cards that are already commanding high prices online. Whether you’re looking for a card with beautiful artwork, or the full set of Bulbasaur’s evolution line in matching illustrations, there’s plenty to get excited about here.
Although Mega Evolution‘s cards are unlikely to become among the most expensive Pokémon cards of all time, the set has many that will provide exciting pulls or purchases for anyone lucky enough to get one. Mega Evolution was released on September 26, 2025, although Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will not receive the set until October 10, 2025.
At the time of writing, Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution has not been officially released yet. Therefore, the prices that are shown here are likely to fluctuate quite a bit as people start pulling cards and revealing more of these Secret Rare cards. However, even though values will change, this still provides a good idea of which cards are the best pulls you can get. It is highly recommended to click the included links for TCGPlayer to see what the current market values are for any card while you are reading, if you are curious about how it has changed.
Lillie’s Determination Ultra Rare
Card 169/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
Lillie’s Determination is such a popular card that it appears twice on this list. Once here, as the Ultra Rare version that shows off the Trainer, Lillie, in a beautiful dress and sun hat, and then further down as the Special Illustration Rare card in bright pastels. The trainer is a cute one, with a very summery vibe, appearing to be on a boat with a lovely ocean view behind her, plus the card also has a great ability to add card draw in a game.
At the time of writing, this Ultra Rare Trainer card is listed with a market price of $43.44 on TCGPlayer, though many recent sales have been closer to the $60 range.
Bulbasaur Illustration Rare
Card 133/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
The adorable Bulbasaur always has an element of cheerful whimsy to it, and in this illustration by Mashu it seems to evoke even more childlike wonder in its face. Flying above a swirl of colors, Bulbasaur’s full art card is beautiful and striking, drawing your eye to the Grass-type Pokémon.
The first in its evolution line, collectors who want to get the set of Mashu illustrated Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur can see a lovely set of matching cards. As of my writing this article, this Bulbasaur Illustration Rare card is listed on TCGPlayer at a market price of $46.65.
Mega Venusaur ex Ultra Rare
Card 155/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
Mega Venusaur ex actually appears twice on this list, with a Special Illustration Rare listed further down. However, though this Ultra Rare may not be valued quite as highly as the other, it still stands out as one of the top 10 of the set.
Illustrated by 5ban Graphics, this Ultra Rare card has neon yellow outlining on the two Venusaurs, who seem to be in a swirl of energy. According to TCGPlayer, this card is showing at an average market price of $52.25 at the time of writing.
Ivysaur Illustration Rare
Card 134/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
Another of illustrator Mashu’s designs in the Bulbasaur family is this Illustration Rare Ivysaur, still featuring the bright neon colorations that are seen in other rare cards in this evolution line. Here, Ivysaur stands out with a determined look on its face, perhaps ready to perform a Razor Leaf attack.
On TCGPlayer, Ivysaur’s Illustration Rare card has a market price of $63.00, as of the time of writing this article. However, it appears that recent sales have been more around the $50 range, so that average value could drop.
Lt. Surge’s Bargain Special Illustration Rare
Card 185/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
It is easy to spot the artistic style of Pokémon illustrator osare, who created this stunning Special Illustration Rare image of Lt. Surge’s Bargain. The cartoonish outlining of the character and cheerful feeling of the colors make these cards stand out from the rest, inspiring some collectors to focus on these cards specifically.
The trainer card shows Lt. Surge lifting a dumbbell that seems to have two Poké Balls on either side of it. This card would be a fantastic one to pull from a Mega Evolution booster box. At the time of writing, this card has a market price of $75 on TCGPlayer.
Acerola’s Mischief Special Illustration Rare
Card 183/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
It isn’t unusual for the young Ghost-type Trainer, Acerola to be getting into some kind of mischief, making this whimsical card one that puts a smile on my face. With sparkling lighting around her, Acerola is seen stitching up costumes while evidence of Mimikyu, a stitched-up Sableye, and others are visible behind her.
Illustrated by Sui, the colors on this card are so perfectly situated that it would make a wonderful print to hang on a wall, particularly around Halloween season. Currently, this card is listed on TCGPlayer with an estimated market price of $90.00.
Lillie’s Determination Special Illustration Rare
Card 184/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
Pokémon TCG‘s Trainer cards, particularly the ones with pretty women on them, can often do well at holding value. Lillie’s Determination has a Special Illustration Rare in this Mega Evolution set which shows a full-card artwork of the blonde trainer in a summery scene.
As I said before, prices are very likely to fluctuate, as this article is being written prior to the full release of this set. However, currently TCGPlayer is valuing Lillie’s Determination with a market price of $196.65, despite its most recent sale having sold for $275.
Mega Venusaur ex Special Illustration Rare
Card 177/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
The bright, neon colors of Mega Venusaur ex’s Special Illustration Rare are immediately eye-catching. Though it’s not entirely clear if the Pokémon is in the middle of its evolution process, or charging up its Solar Transfer ability, either way, it evokes a powerful energy.
As of writing this article, this striking card by illustrator Mashu is being shown on TCGPlayer with a market value of $217.82, making it highly collectible and valuable, particularly as it marks the final evolution of the Bulbasaur set by Mashu, with a matching look between the three cards.
Mega Lucario ex Special Illustration Rare
Card 179/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
The artwork on Mega Lucario ex’s Special Illustration Rare almost looks as though Mega Lucario and Mega Venusaur are engaged in some kaiju-style battle in the middle of a bustling city scene. The classic colorations of a comic book battle swirling around Mega Lucario ex’s fist add excitement to the scene, as one can almost see what happens next.
While this card is already impressive in its artwork, the estimated market price on TCGPlayer makes it even more notable, at an estimated value of $404.98 at the time of writing.
Mega Gardevoir ex Special Illustration Rare
Card 178/132 In Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution
The crowning achievement for any collector with this set is the Mega Gardevoir ex Special Illustration Rare, card 178/132. This beautiful card is eye-catching with its pastel, feminine coloring and fluidity that makes it feel as though Mega Gardevoir is dancing.
Illustrated by Raita Kazama, several versions of this evolution line are visible on the card, swirling in a kaleidoscope fashion. At the time of writing, TCGPlayer shows this card with an astounding estimated market price of $549.99, making it the most valuable in the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution set.
