Big Brother season 27’s most recent juror, Ava Pearl, may have made it to the final four, but her downfall may have come from a moment weeks back when she chose to prioritize Vince Panaro over her allies. While Ava was aware that Vince wasn’t someone she wanted to align with, there were several moments in the game where she prioritized him.
As one of the youngest houseguests in the Big Brother 27 house, Ava had a lot to contend with walking into the game. An aura painter from New York, Ava worked hard to own her quirks as she moved through the game, but it became increasingly clear as the season went on that she was going with the flow too much to find a home.
Aligned with Cliffton “Will” Williams from the beginning of the season, Ava also found an unlikely ally in Rachel Reilly, Big Brother 13 winner and three-time houseguest. While Rachel was hopeful she’d be able to pass on her BB wisdom to players like Ava, it was ultimately partially Ava’s fault that Rachel was eliminated from the game.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Ava unpacked her decision to prioritize Vince over Rachel, citing an interesting reason for her choice.
Ava Felt She Would Be Passing The Blame To Someone Else
She Allowed Vince To Decide Who Went Second In The White Locust
Although Ava spent the majority of the season aligned with Rachel and benefitting from that social capital, when the BB Mastermind presented the White Locust competition, it wasn’t clear where Ava’s loyalties were. Rachel, who tried to pull Ava into a room to discuss the competition after she won the chance to go first, should’ve had priority for Ava.
Instead, Ava chose to prioritize her other ally, Lauren Domingue, who was working closely with Vince at the time. Despite knowing that Ava would cause a stir in the house by not choosing Rachel, she made her bed and chose to lie in it. Even as the season continued, Ava prioritized Vince over others regardless of it not serving her overall game.
Screen Rant: You consistently called Vince out this season, asking him not to contact you post-show and even nicknaming him “the lip”, but when you had a choice to make during the White Locust competition, you picked him over your final 2, Rachel. Why did you choose to prioritize Vince?
Ava Pearl: Rachel did not want me to pick Lauren, and I was scared that Lauren might go home if somehow down the line Rachel had gone first. So I let Vinny make the decision, and I passed the buck off onto him. I didn’t see Vinny going home that night just based on his social game, so I figured, YOLO. And I definitely stand by my decision at this point, given how the game went, and knowing that Vinny and Rachel were in an alliance anyways.
The White Locust Changed Big Brother 27, But Not For The Better
Ava’s Decision Cost Rachel Reilly Her BB Life
While Ava’s White Locust decision cost Rachel her Big Brother life, it was clearly something that Ava felt strongly about in the game. After Rachel’s elimination, Ava consistently spoke negatively about her one-time ally, calling Rachel out for the way she’d tried to pull Ava to the side to chat. Despite Ava feeling sour about Rachel’s behavior, most Big Brother viewers have been siding with Rachel.
Big Brother 27’s finale airs Sunday at 8:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
