This celebrated yet canceled Paramount+ series, which is widely considered one of the most divisive video game adaptations ever made for television, is finally streaming now on Netflix.
This series was incredibly hyped upon its initial release in 2022, which was before two of the most acclaimed video game adaptations of all time – HBO’s The Last of Us and Prime Video’s Fallout – were even released.
Although this series didn’t retain the success or shelf life of the others, it still played an important role in the rise of video game TV adaptations on prestige streaming platforms during the early 2020s.
Both Seasons Of Halo Are Now Streaming On Netflix
Halo is one of the biggest new drops on Netflix to kick off October 2025. The series has previously only been available to stream on Paramount+ but is now officially a part of Netflix’s expansive streaming library.
For fans of space sci-fi series and the legendary video games, Halo is one of the absolute best TV series to stream on Netflix this week. The series consists of 17 episodes across two seasons, with each episode running about an hour long, which should take most viewers at least a week to get through.
Even though Halo was no longer continued at Paramount+, the fact that it is now arriving on Netflix after concluding in 2024 is somewhat promising. If Halo is able to become a surprise streaming hit on Netflix, it could open the door for some other type of adaptation or expansion series, since the IP is still quite valuable.
Why Halo Was Canceled After Just 2 Seasons
The main gripe that viewers have with Halo is that it was not a true adaptation of the beloved video game, which was a creative risk that did not end up paying off. Specific characters also came under mass scrutiny by certain viewers, which contributed to the general sense of disappointment felt primarily by longtime fans of the video game franchise.
That said, Halo may be better enjoyed if you have never played the Halo games or don’t care much about the non-canon story and character elements. There is still plenty of positive feedback around the show, especially among sci-fi fans and critics.
CBR gave Halo season 2 a 7/10, noting, “Hopefully, any potential Season 3 can continue to improve rather than reminding the audience of the series’ existing flaws. At least Season 2 is taking steps in the right direction.”
The series earned an 80% Rotten Tomatoes score overall, which should be enough to warrant new viewership and maybe even a streaming resurgence on Netflix.
