Jordan Peele Horror On VOD October 7

Jordan Peele’s latest horror production, Him, is finally headed to digital platforms, and it is coming sooner than you think. Directed by Justin Tipping, 2025’s Him made waves upon its theatrical debut, blending ambition and athletic obsession in a horror produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. The film stars Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, and Jim Jefferies.

Him debuted on September 19, 2025, and follows rising quarterback Cameron Cade (Withers) as he falls under the eerie mentorship of idol Isaiah White (Wayans) after surviving a violent attack. Unfortunately, Him received generally negative reviews from critics, currently grossing just $25.2 million on a $27 million budget, although there was plenty of praise for Withers and Wayans’ performances.

Now, Universal Pictures has confirmed that Him will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms starting tomorrow, on October 7, 2025. The home release includes over 45 minutes of bonus content, five deleted scenes, a deleted end credits scene, a “haunting” alternate ending, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and more. Check out the list of Him’s deleted scenes and featurettes below:

Deleted Scenes:

  • Cheers – features Tyriq Withers
  • Don’t Be a Mascot – features Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers
  • The Publicist – features Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers and Julia Fox

  • Hymns of a G.O.A.T. — Go behind the scenes with composer Bobby Krlic

Him will also arrive on various formats including 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 11, 2025, allowing fans to own a physical copy of the 2025 psychological horror. This sudden VOD launch coincides with Him’s ongoing run in theaters, expanding the reach of one of the most talked-about genre films of the year just in time for Halloween.

Why Him’s Digital Release Is Significant

The timing of Him’s digital release is very strategic. As Halloween approaches, horror titles typically surge in popularity, making it the perfect time for release, and Jordan Peele’s association with Him only boosts its draw. Furthermore, Universal’s decision to offer exclusive extras for digital buyers also reflects an industry trend of incentivizing ownership over streaming in a competitive digital landscape.

The titles of the deleted scenes are very intriguing, especially considering Cam stated the opposite of a Savior is a mascot during Him’s ending, and one of the deleted scenes is titled “Don’t Be a Mascot.” It will also be interesting to see how Withers and Wayans embodied the athletes, and the techniques behind making the film so visually spectacular.

Despite Reviews, Him May Join Peele’s Cult Hit Legacy

Although it may not have had the viral traction of Get Out or Us — as Him is only produced by Peele, not directed — its VOD release could certainly elevate its cult status beyond reviews. The film’s eerie atmosphere, athletic symbolism, and performances create a slow-burning experience that may resonate more on rewatch, especially with added scenes that expand its narrative.

Marlon Wayans has defended Him’s Rotten Tomatoes score, comparing it to other beloved cult films like White Chicks, which has a shockingly low 15% Tomatometer. Having seen it myself, I can see Wayans’ point. Therefore, with digital availability opening it to broader audiences, Him could emerge as one of 2025’s sleeper horror hits, especially for fans seeking something psychologically intriguing.
