How To Play Daredevil (Abilities, Ultimate, Tips & Tricks)

The newest Duelist character in Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 is Daredevil, the acrobatic crime-fighter from Hell’s Kitchen, now elevated as protector of the divine Eigth City. Infused with the demonic power of The Beast entity, Matt Murdock’s abilities are far beyond his usual heightened senses. This creates a blend of skills new and old for a complex character that players might struggle to find success with.

Daredevil fulfills another spot in the Duelist role, prioritizing dealing damage and scoring eliminations for his team. However, Daredevil is perhaps the most unique hero in the game since Blade in Marvel Rivals, using unique mechanics that no one else has. As a Duelist with above average health compared to others in that category, his playstyle is far different from what you might expect.

Every Daredevil Ability Explained

Master Your Senses To Become Without Fear

Daredevil is almost blind in Marvel Rivals, with a limited field of vision compared to every other character on the roster. This reflects the blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who uses their radar senses to form an unorthodox picture of the world to “see.” This passive effect in the game makes Daredevil incapable of seeing beyond a certain distance, narrowing his focus as you play.

Despite Daredevil’s lack of traditional sight, he has more than one way of spotting opponents to make up for this. Daredevil can sense enemies through walls and other obstacles, tracking their movements when he marks them as targets.

Daredevil’s abilities and attacks build a character-specific resource called Fury. You start off with three stacks of Fury, consuming it to perform certain abilities that power up other aspects of Daredevil for potent combos.

With multiple character nerfs and buffs in Season 4.5, Daredevil brings even more change with how his abilities interact with other characters. For a full breakdown, the table below goes over all of Daredevil’s moves, including how to perform them and how long they take to recover from cooldown:

Ability

Ability Type

Cooldown

Description

Justice Jab

Primary Attack (LMB, RT, R2)

N/A

Swing Billy Clubs forward while gaining Fury on hit.

Righteous Cross

Devil’s Latch

Infernal Fury

Basic Ability (RSHIFT, R1, RB)

Cooldown

Description

Sonic Pursuit

Basic Ability (LSHIFT, L1, LB)

N/A

Objection!

Alternate Attack (RMB, LT, L2)

1 second

Radar Sense

Passive Ability

N/A

Detect enemy movements within a set radius.

Blind Ascent

Passive Ability

N/A

Cling to walls and spring off them to reposition Daredevil.

As you can see, Daredevil’s abilities are tied around Fury, either restoring it or spending it to target individual enemies. Daredevil thrives by selecting a target and hunting them down, using his Radar Sense and Sonic Pursuit to track them anywhere on the battlefield.

Restoring Righteous Cross from various abilities helps you deal greater damage in bursts, dealing divine punishment to enemies quickly. You want to be using your Fury often on Infernal Fury, which lets you create a powerful bouncing projectile in Devil’s Throw or a burst of fiery AoE damage using Devil’s Chain. Either follow-up on this ability is incredibly potent if you can chain it into Daredevil’s other moves.

How To Use Daredevil’s Ultimate

Unleash The Beast To Weaken Enemies For Your Team

Daredevil’s Ultimate ability is called Let the Devil Out, which creates a large Area of Effect (AoE) once activated. This Ultimate has Matt Murdock embrace The Beast within, causing enemies in his line of sight to take damage over time for a nine-second duration.

This ability lasts for quite some time compared to others, but enemies can escape it if they flee from Daredevil’s limited view in time. However, this is easier said than done, since Daredevil’s Ultimate causes enemies in its radius to suffer a ramping Blind effect, causing them to eventually lose all sight if exposed to it for too long.

Daredevil continuously gains Fury as a passive bonus during his Ultimate, allowing you to chain his abilities together rapidly without worrying about resources being drained.

This prevents characters like Star-Lord from using their Ultimates or abilities that require sight. If Daredevil remains close to a target during his Ultimate, he can make sure they have no focus other than him for the time it lasts, throwing apart some team comps in Marvel Rivals that require allies to see each other.

The chaos this Ultimate can cause is perfect for how Daredevil wants to play. Those who use this Ultimate correctly can Blind Strategists from the rest of their team, preventing them from healing enemies effectively as they try to get away from Daredevil’s assault.

Best Team Comps For Daredevil

Put Together Like-Minded Characters Who Hunt Down Targets

Daredevil does not have too many synergies within Marvel Rivals, taking the sins of the world on his back as a solo burden most of the time. That being said, there are some characters that can help Matt Murdock with his righteous mission, using their own abilities to either protect the man without fear or jump into battle with him.

Some of the best heroes to have on a team with Daredevil are:

  • Magneto
  • Venom
  • Magik
  • The Punisher
  • Ultron
  • Invisible Woman

The Punisher and Daredevil have an interesting Team-Up in Marvel Rivals called Blind Verdict, with Daredevil gaining a damage and health boost just by having Frank Castle on his team. Beyond just this benefit, The Punisher gets to share Daredevil’s Sonic Pursuit target, seeing them through walls. The Punisher also gains a devil-infused shock grenade, which he can use to damage and blind enemies he hits with it.

Strategists like Ultron can be great with Daredevil, as their passive healing and burst damage pair well with the hero’s core strategy. Invisible Woman also works well, as her AoE Ultimate can combine with Daredevil’s to slow oppponents into his blinding range.

Venom and Magik are excellent characters to work with Daredevil too, mainly due to how they also “dive” onto opponents aggressively. The combined damage of these characters can make quick work of shared targets, especially if someone like Magneto uses a protective bubble to ensure Daredevil’s approach.

Best Tips, Tricks, & Strategies For Winning

Tap Into The Darker Side Of Constant Conflict

By all accounts, Daredevil is a strange character in Marvel Rivals, acting as a Duelist closer in nature to Iron Fist or Magik. Daredevil needs to find appropriate targets to do well, without overestimating what he can handle in any given conflict between his team and another.

Your best strategy with Daredevil is to pick your targets wisely, then go all out against them. Tracking down one or two foes who get separated from their team, then using every bit of Daredevil’s Fury to ensure their elimination can work wonders in breaking down the unity of your opposition.

When Daredevil is under pressure, such as an enemy team grouping up against him, a good plan is to use his Devil’s Latch to escape from a fight back to his own team for support.

Understanding your combos from Infernal Fury will set you apart from other Daredevil players, as mastering this skill will allow you to recharge others instantly. Chaining together Infernal Fury with Righteous Cross will maximize your damage potential, enabling your possible dive team in Marvel Rivals to help you secure eliminations more often.

The lack of cooldowns on nearly all of Daredevil’s moves grants him far more freedom than other Duelists. Don’t be afraid to link many of Daredevil’s abilities together to gain the best advantage, either on offense or defense. Daredevil’s reflect ability is extremely powerful, capable of knocking back enemy Ultimates or nullifying their damage to Daredevil or anyone behind him.

The key to Matt Murdock’s success is how you recognize which skills to use in different situations. With abilities for melee combat, mid-range projectiles, AoE hellfire, and swift mobility, Daredevil’s tools are vast in Marvel Rivals, but the right combination of them could make you the most dangerous combatant on the battlefield.
