Invincible season 4 is on its way, arriving early next year. The creator of both the Prime Video series and the titular comic book superhero that inspired the series, Robert Kirkman, revealed a shocking detail about the upcoming installment of the hit show.
Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible is based on an Image Comics series of the same name. The TV show depicts the struggles the teenage superhero, Mark Grayson (Invincible’s civilian identity), faces on a daily basis. Grayson is portrayed by Stephen Yeun. The series also features Sandra Oh and J. K. Simmons as his parents.
In an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley, Kirkman revealed that Grayson will be forced to make some changes to his life so he can stay afloat. As a result, he might become a little darker than the hero who fans have grown to know and love.
I think, after what we saw in season three with the invincible war and with conquest, you know, this is a guy who has spent a so much time worried that he could possibly become his father or become more like his father, and now he might be realizing that He might have to be more like his father just to survive, just to get through this, because of how dire the stakes are with everything that he’s doing.
As Kirkman mentioned, Grayson has always been afraid of turning into his father. However, after the events of Invincible season 3, he might not have a choice in the matter. And, to make matters worse, this transformation is going to be the least of his problems. The series creator mentioned that the superhero is likely about to hit rock bottom.
So, you know, we’re going to see a much darker Mark Grayson that has, you know, a little bit more resolve, is more willing to cross some lines, and it’s going to be happening at, you know, possibly the worst time in his life.
On a more optimistic note, Kirkman also mentioned that he believes season 4 will be the best one yet. He explained that his hope as a creator is to make sure that his work will only continue to grow and become better than its predecessors.
So, you know, it’s a big season. It’s an escalating show. We try to make sure that every season tops the one before it. And I’m very confident that season 4 is going to top season 3.
While a specific date has not been announced yet at the time of this article’s publication, Invincible season 4 has a confirmed release window of March 2026.
