Taylor Swift just announced a brand-new six-episode Disney+ docuseries revealing a behind-the-scenes look at her iconic Eras Tour, and it will finally correct the biggest problem with the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie. The docuseries, titled Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era, will debut with a two-episode premiere on December 12th.
Alongside those episodes will be a new cut of the concert, titled Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show. The Eras Tour was a two-year concert phenomenon that spanned 21 countries and grossed $2 billion. In keeping with several Taylor Swift documentaries and concert movies, The Eras Tour movie captured the concert set nearly in its entirety.
However, two years later, there remains a glaring absence in that movie that has long been a grievance for fans. Thankfully, this new docuseries, along with Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, will correct that problem—and it’s been a long time coming.
Taylor Swift’s New Series Finally Includes The Era Tour Movie’s Missing Tortured Poets Department Set
The Eras Tour movie was released in 2023, which means that it doesn’t contain the Tortured Poets Department set that was added to the concert after the album’s April 2024 release date. Given this timeline, it of course makes sense that this set wasn’t included, as it didn’t exist yet.
This remains a disappointment, however, because those who attended the concert before The Tortured Poets Department was released, or didn’t attend the concert at all, never got to see this set (outside of what has been shared online from concert-goers). This is especially a shame because so many moments from that set are absolutely brilliant.
Swift’s performance for “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” is particularly celebrated for its theatricality and profundity. Thankfully, though, the Tortured Poets Department set is coming to Disney+ in Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show. In fact, Swift’s Instagram post includes a shot of her now-fiancé, Travis Kelce, carrying her on stage during that set.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Docuseries Should Finally Include Other Original Cut Setlist Songs
In addition to finally getting to see the Tortured Poets Department songs, fans are hoping this cut of the concert will include other songs not shown in the Eras Tour movie. Among the possibilities are songs that were on the setlist during the shows used for the movie, such as “no body, no crime,” but were cut from the film.
This could also include fan-favorite songs that were surprisingly absent from The Eras Tour movie, including “The Archer” and “Long Live.” Whether these songs will be included remains to be seen, but this thrilling new Taylor Swift project is confirmed to at least be correcting the absence of The Tortured Poets Department from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
