Just like in previous games, Pokémon Legends: Z-A offers players a chance to acquire Shiny Pokémon. Because Shiny types are so rare, boosting the odds in your favor is a must. Thankfully, the Shiny Charm can be obtained in Pokémon Legends: Z-A — but it takes a lot of effort to get.
Legends: Z-A‘s map of Lumiose City is filled with Wild Zones, all of which have a chance of spawning Shiny Pokémon. Early on, there’s even a side quest that will net you a Shiny Mareep. However, if you want your Shiny chances to increase, you’ll need to get the Shiny Charm.
Where To Find The Shiny Charm In Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Get To Level 50 In Mable’s Research
In order to get the Shiny Charm in Legends: Z-A, you’ll have to reach Level 50 in Mable’s Research. You unlock Mable’s Research naturally in the main story, so you can start rising through her ranks fairly easily. Still, getting all the way to the highest rank will take some time and effort, so optimizing how you partake in Mable’s Research is a must.
Over the course of the game, you’ll also unlock more research and many research requests are tiered. For example, once you acquire points for getting 50 Mega Shards, you’ll get a new task to get 100 Mega Shards, and so on. The higher the tier, the greater the points awarded upon completion.

Tips & Tricks For Finishing Requests
You’ll complete some requests in Mable’s Research naturally, simply by catching Pokémon in the Wild Zones and evolving ones in your party. Collecting Mega Shards in Lumiose City is another way to get research points as you go from one point on the map to another. However, in order to complete Mable’s Research quickly, you’ll need to multitask.
The easiest way to do this is by using Pokémon directly tied to research requests while catching new Pokémon. For example, using a Pokémon that needs to evolve to battle against all the ones you encounter in Wild Zone 8. This will add to filling up an “Evolving Pokémon” request while also letting you complete “”Surverying Wild Zone 8.”
It will also count toward requests like “Catching Normal Types” and “Catching Fighting Types,” since those types are found within Wild Zone 8. And then it all works together for whichever tier of “Filling Your Pokédex” you happen to be on. When all is said and done, you can realistically have over a thousand points from a single zone.
Sticking with fulfilling requests is key. It will admittedly take some time, but you’ll eventually reach Rank 50, and Mable will then give you the Shiny Charm. It goes a long way for helping you catch more Shinies in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
