Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3, episode 7, “Solaz del Mar”.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 concluded after seven thrilling episodes, and while the protagonists managed to take down most of Spain’s threats, they’re still no closer to returning home. Having traveled all the way from the UK, Spain was supposed to be nothing more than an unintentional pitstop for Daryl and Carol on their voyage back to America.
However, with their boat out of commission, the duo found themselves making friends with the Spanish natives while trying to repair the ship. Unfortunately, the protagonists’ inability to stay out of trouble put them at odds with various new villain groups in Daryl Dixon season 3, prompting them to risk their lives to help protect those in need.
Their actions created a tense ending to Daryl Dixon season 3 filled with plenty of action, and while they did manage to keep all of their Spanish friends alive, it came at the expense of their only way home. As a result, the stage is now set for season 4, and AMC has already offered confirmation on whether another installment will happen.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 Is Confirmed
Daryl Dixon was renewed for season 4 ahead of the third season’s release, and an announcement at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 confirmed it would officially be the last outing. While the first two installments took place predominantly in France, the fourth season looks like it will follow in season 3’s footsteps and focus mostly on Spain.
There is no guarantee that Carol and Daryl’s journey will end here though, and with heavy rumors of a Walking Dead crossover show on the horizon, it’s likely both characters will return after the spinoff is complete. Still, the pair does have one more adventure in Europe to overcome before we can begin speculating on their future, which should be exciting.
While no release date has been revealed yet, the previous three seasons have all been released annually, and with sneak peeks at season 4 already being provided, it’s highly possible that the confirmed final outing could drop at some point in 2026.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 Latest News
Details are still limited on Daryl Dixon season 4, but we do know that it will take place in Spain and that filming has already started. A behind-the-scenes clip featuring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride on set was released on The Walking Dead‘s YouTube channel, suggesting production on the final chapter is underway.
It also seems as though Daryl and Carol’s stories will continue beyond this project, as The Walking Dead franchise’s future was teased by AMC Networks President Dan McDermott, who claimed it was “quite possible we could see this group up here 15 years from now” during a panel that featured both Reedus and McBride.
What this means for season 4 is still unknown, but despite the countless troubles they’re bound to face, it feels inevitable that Daryl and Carol will survive their time in Spain, which we’ll hopefully find out sooner rather than later.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 Cast Details
Given that the show revolves around Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride’s characters, alongside the fact that they’ve been seen on set, it’s fair to assume the duo will both undoubtedly be involved in season 4. Unfortunately, no other cast details have been provided, but some key figures look certain to be involved after season 3’s conclusion.
Firstly, Eduardo Noriega is likely to return as Antonio, given he played Carol’s love interest in Daryl Dixon season 3 and was set to join the protagonists on their trip to America. Likewise, Candela Saitta seems destined to return as Justina, as does Hugo Arbues, who played Justina’s boyfriend and Antonio’s son, Roberto.
These three characters were Daryl and Carol’s main allies in Spain, hence why they were welcomed to tag along on the planned overseas voyage and will probably be back. Romain Levi could also be a big part of season 4 after his cameo in “Solaz del Mar”, especially since his character, Codron, was a major part of the first two installments.
Óscar Jaenada will likely reprise his role as Fede since he is one of the key remaining villains left on the show. Assuming the characters eventually make it back to America, some major Walking Dead cameos, alongside appearances from Manish Dayal and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, are possible, but these details will likely be kept under wraps, even as the season unfolds.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 Story Details
Given that season 3 has only just concluded, we’re a long way away from an official season 4 synopsis. Still, the latest finale provides a pretty clear idea of what to expect when the series returns. Primarily, the objective will be the same for Daryl and Carol: leave Spain and return home to America, but their methods may be different.
In season 3, they worked on fixing their boat, but after Fede caused it to burn down, it’s hard to imagine that whatever is left will be salvageable. As a result, they will presumably look for a new way to travel overseas, something Codron’s unexplained arrival in Spain could help solve.
Once he reunites with the protagonists, the trio will likely come up with a new plan alongside Antonio, Justina, and Robert, who will happily help in the hopes of leaving with them. Unfortunately, they will still have a vengeful Fede to deal with, alongside the potential return of The Walking Dead‘s Los Primitivos, who won’t make departing the country particularly easy.
They may even have to cross new enemies as part of their mission, suggesting The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 will be a chaotic end to Daryl’s European journey that started back in season 1, but at least he will have plenty of allies to help finally make it happen in the final chapter.
