One of the original stars of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things has been cast in another Netflix supernatural series alongside Josh Hartnett and Mackenzie Davis.

Per Variety, Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton has joined the cast of an untitled supernatural limited series at Netflix created by Jesse McKeown. The series logline reads, “When a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town, a hard-bitten fisherman (Hartnett) must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life.”

McKeown is best known for his work as a writer on the cop drama 19-2, the Hulu comedy Letterkenny, and the superhero Netflix series The Umbrella Academy. Harnett has recently appeared in Oppenheimer and The Bear. Davis is best known for Black Mirror and Blade Runner 2049.

After Stranger Things comes to an end with its fifth and final season in Fall 2025, Charlie Heaton will star in another Netflix supernatural series, which currently remains untitled. It will be McKeown’s first project since The Umbrella Academy concluded after its fourth season in August 2024.

Both Netflix and McKeown are keeping plot details for their new supernatural series under wraps at this time. The show, however, sounds fundamentally inspired by the classic Spielberg movie Jaws, in which a menacing sea creature terrorizes a small town and community.

One hit 2025 Netflix series that surpassed Stranger Things in viewership nearly didn’t get made after it was passed on by another massive streamer.

Since so little information is available at this time about Charlie Heaton’s next project after Stranger Things ends, it’s impossible to know exactly what role he will play in it. That said, Heaton will likely either play a relative or a person who lives in the same remote town as Hartnett and Davis’s characters.

The untitled limited series, which was originally announced in February 2025, is set to be only six episodes long. This suggests that it will not be in a position to become another flagship franchise for Netflix like Stranger Things. Nevertheless, the acting combination of Heaton, Hartnett, and Davis is incredibly promising at face value.

Stranger Things fans should naturally be drawn to Charlie Heaton’s 6-episode supernatural thriller series. Hopefully, once Stranger Things finally concludes at the end of 2025, there will be more information and perhaps a trailer made available for viewers to generate more hype on the back of Stranger Things ending.

This new Netflix show should be a springboard for Heaton to move on to more exciting projects, such as the feature film Billy Knight starring Al Pacino, Angela Sarafyan, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, after Stranger Things ends.

Heaton has not appeared in any other film or TV project besides Stranger Things since 2021’s The Souvenir: Part II. This new Netflix show should be a springboard for Heaton to move on to more exciting projects, such as the feature film Billy Knight starring Al Pacino, Angela Sarafyan, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, after Stranger Things ends.
