Everyone loves a good RPG, and Square Enix is giving us all the chance to check out one of its biggest upcoming RPGs completely free. Be sure to get in and check it out while you can!
Octopath Traveller 0 was officially announced earlier this year, and it looks like Square Enix has another hit on its hands. So confident are they, in fact, that you can currently download and play a demo on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Steam.
Octopath Traveller 0’s Demo Is Available Now
And it’s full of excellent features
We all love a good demo. Being able to get a proper feel for a game before the full release is always welcome, even though anyone who’s played a previous Octopath Traveller game will know they’re in good hands. These are gorgeous, sweeping, epic RPGs, and based on the latest demo, Octopath Traveller 0 is no different.
The new demo lets you play through the opening of the game, which includes the first chapter of three different story arcs from the Retribution story and the first chapter of the Restoration story. Better yet, your progress will carry over to the full game when it releases on December 4, 2025. We absolutely love to see it.
The game’s official synopsis teases:
“Enjoy familiar features such as the series’ HD-2D graphics, a fusion of retro pixel art and 3DCG; the player’s ability to roleplay using Path Actions of their choice; and the Break and Boost system that can turn the tide of battle. Additionally, brand-new features such as character creation and town building allow you to create your own character and restore your hometown.”
There’s no word yet on how long the demo will be around for, so you’ve probably got a decent amount of time to check it out. To do so, simply search for the game on whichever gaming platform you use.
RPG Fans Are Already Loving The Demo
It’s easy to see why
Octopath Traveller 0 is, so far, a hit with gamers who have picked it up and checked it out.
“I’m eagerly awaiting the full release,” one fan wrote on Reddit after smashing through the three-hour trial. There’s also a lot of talk about just how dark the game’s opening is compared to the previous two games. You’ll find no spoilers here, but this new entry promises to be a gripping adventure.
“Really enjoyed the demo and I’m pre-ordering the deluxe edition now,” another fan added.
So, while I’m sure your backlog is already groaning under the weight of so many games, the Octopath Traveller 0 absolutely demands your attention to. Sorry about that.
