Jean Grey vs Scarlet Witch Is the Battle of the Superhero Gods
Marvel recently revealed solicit information for The End 2099 #3, coming from Steve Orlando and Ibraim Roberson. Under the influence of Knull, aka the King in Black, and Mephisto himself, heroes will be ripped from different realities, with House of M‘s Scarlet Witch facing post-Dark Phoenix Jean Grey.

The End 2099 will see the alternate Earth-2099 under attack, from the combined form of Galactus and Knull, who will seemingly make a deal with Mephisto: the denizens of Earth-2099 against some of the most iconic heroes from across the Marvel multiverse and the publisher’s long history of stories.
Fans Will Get an Answer to Marvel’s Biggest ‘Hero vs Hero’ Debate
The Phoenix is the ultimate embodiment of creation and reinvention in Marvel lore, while Chaos Magic is the oldest form of mysticism, able to rewrite reality itself. Both the Phoenix and the Scarlet Witch can rewrite reality on a foundational level.
The events of Avengers vs X-Men suggested the Phoenix Force is particularly vulnerable to Chaos Magic, with Wanda battling effectively against the Phoenix Force-empowered Namor and Emma Frost.
During House of M, Wanda Maximoff was consumed with grief, rewriting the entirety of reality and ultimately all but wiping out mutantkind. Likewise, the influence of the Dark Phoenix turned Jean Grey into a genocidal killer, with entire planets perishing in the Phoenix’s flame. Fans have long debated whether Wanda or Jean has the greatest well of power, and now it seems they’ll find out the definitive answer.
Marvel 2099 Is Setting Up an Epic Tournament
Marvel recently redefined Earth-2099, merging several different versions of Marvel’s future into a single continuity. Now, the entire reality will engage in a battle for its life, with some of the mightiest heroes and villains dragged into a horrifying tournament that will settle the fate of billions of lives.
While Jean Grey vs Scarlet Witch is undoubtedly the title fight, icons like Age of Apocalypse Wolverine, Spider-Man 3099 and more will clash over this five-issue epic, deciding some of the hottest ‘hero vs hero’ debates of all time.
The End 2099 #3 is coming February 25 from Marvel Comics, with the series beginning December 10.
