There isn’t a single anime series out now that is as big as Solo Leveling. While Demon Slayer dominated box offices in 2025, Solo Leveling brought new highs to seasonal anime. The first season was amazing, and the second season only cemented the series’ status as an all-time great.
Surprisingly, the third season of the anime hasn’t been confirmed. It’s a shock considering the massive success of the first two seasons, but it looks like the studios behind the anime might be looking to create a movie instead.
No matter what they do, however, Solo Leveling won’t get better from here. For better or worse, the best has already been animated.
Solo Leveling Is Exceptional

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Solo Leveling is one of the best anime series of all time. It’s a once-in-a-generation hit that redefined the peaks of anime. It’s a record-breaker on Crunchyroll, breaking records set by massive franchises like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Solo Leveling works well because of how simple it is. At its core, it’s a wonderful power fantasy starring Sung Jinwoo as the only Hunter in the world who can actually get stronger. The series wastes no time getting its point across, and there’s not a single moment in the anime that should be skipped.
The first season set the tone for the franchise, but it was the second season that really capitalized on its potential.
Season Two Is Peak
The Jeju Island Arc Is the Best Arc in Solo Leveling
Season two of Solo Leveling is so good that it’s absurd. It’s amazing from the beginning until the end, and it even features one of the best fights in anime history when Jinwoo takes on the brutally powerful Ant King. The first season set the tone for the series but didn’t get a real chance to flourish. That’s where season two comes in.
Season two features the single greatest arc in the franchise when Jinwoo heads to Jeju Island. Everything ramping up to the arc was phenomenal as well, showcasing the greater world of Hunters through the Japanese Hunters Association, how Korea was beginning to perceive Jinwoo, and how Jinwoo was using his newfound strength.
There are a ton of great arcs in Solo Leveling, but unfortunately, there’s nothing better than the Jeju Island Arc.
Unfortunately, It Doesn’t Get Better from Here
Solo Leveling Doesn’t Have Another Arc as Good as Jeju Island
The Jeju Island Arc is the single best arc in Solo Leveling. It’s at about the halfway point of the series, but even then, there’s nothing left that compares to how great this arc is. Jinwoo has a lot of battles left, and he’ll be facing off against the toughest opponents the franchise can throw at him, but it doesn’t really matter.
The Jeju Island Arc works because Jinwoo still has relatively normal levels of strength. He cements his position as the strongest Hunter in Korea during this arc and makes a name for himself on the world stage. He quickly becomes the single strongest Hunter in the world, and after that, fights don’t really have the same significance.
The fun of Solo Leveling is watching Jinwoo get stronger, not watching him as the strongest. It’s fun watching him fight against enemies that have at least a decent chance of winning, but eventually, even the strongest characters in Solo Leveling won’t stand a chance against him.
Solo Leveling’s greatest asset is its power scaling, at first. The series works because of how simple it is, but that simplicity eventually becomes its own worst enemy. Jinwoo gets stronger, fights an enemy stronger than he is, unlocks a new ability or Shadow, and goes to fight again. That’s it.
That works perfectly for the first two seasons, but eventually, Jinwoo will run out of tough opponents, and the formula feels overdone. While there is still no official confirmation on a third season of the anime, a movie animating the next arc, or even a movie that tells its own story, it doesn’t really matter: nothing will top season 2.
Season 3 or Movie, Neither Will Match Season 2
Season 2 Will Go Down in History
Solo Leveling is all downhill from here. That isn’t to say that the next few arcs aren’t great, but it is saying that the next few arcs pale in comparison to the Jeju Island arc. There is still a great story to tell, more of the world to explore, and plenty of great fights, but nothing tops Jeju Island.
There are a few pieces of lore worth looking into, however. Jinwoo still doesn’t know where his powers come from, the finale of season two showcases two mysterious, powerful characters, and it looks like Jinwoo’s dad will be involved going forward as well, but it doesn’t change much.
The second season of Solo Leveling won’t just go down in history because of how many records it broke, it will forever be remembered as one of the best seasons of anime ever made. Hopefully the next portion of the story does well, but at least season two will always exist as a milestone of anime.
