“Here’s To Many More Stories Together!

Netflix is buying Warner Bros. Discovery, which is now fueling more support for the DC Snyderverse franchise to make a return. As Hollywood could be looking very different if the Netflix and Warner Bros. deal goes through, it is now fueling the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse/#SellTheSnyderVerseToNetflix movement in hopes that Zack Snyder’s universe is coming back.

Days after the deal was announced, Snyder took to Instagram to celebrate his account reaching more than 500,000 followers and shared a new image of Henry Cavill’s Superman. Check it out below, along with a special message to audience members who followed the Snyderverse:

The 59-year-old filmmaker stated, “Today marks a little milestone on this wild Instagram journey—500k followers in just over two months!” He continued, “I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s joined along the way.”

Snyder stressed that, “For me, these characters are a kind of modern mythology, and I put a ton of reverence and respect into bringing them to life.” He concluded his post by saying, “Seeing that resonate with so many of you means the world. Here’s to many more stories together!”

Is The Snyderverse Returning Or Replacing James Gunn’s DCU?

While there has been a lot of passion in the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and #SellTheSnyderVerseToNetflix movements, David Zaslav has made it clear that James Gunn’s DC Universe franchise remains a high priority in the midst of the Netflix/Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition. The CEO stated to Bloomberg, “The work of James and Peter, their creative vision, it’s compelling and a great economic return. There’s no storytelling content that we have that provides a bigger palette than DC, and there’s nobody around right now who can tell these stories with the same imagination and excitement.”

The DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” slate had a strong path in 2025, as Superman became the highest-grossing comic book film of the year, and a sequel, Man of Tomorrow, is already in the works. Several other DCU projects have also wrapped filming, with other movies and TV shows in other stages of development.

In terms of DC projects from the filmmaker on Netflix in the immediate future, the streaming platform has not stated anything that suggests that Snyder’s unfinished Justice League franchise is coming back. A third Rebel Moon movie isn’t moving forward, and Netflix recently decided not to renew Twilight of the Gods for another season.

Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League are all available on streaming and through home media release, while Gunn’s DCU will resume in 2026 with HBO’s Lanterns TV show, as well as the Supergirl and Clayface movies on June 26 and September 11, respectively.
