If you’re looking for your next big PlayStation game, I might have just the thing. A massive open-world game that looks like Bloodborne and Fallout had a baby with Days Gone is coming to PlayStation 5, and it’s completely free.
I’m assuming that pitch has you fully on board, because why would you not want a free game with Bloodborne vibes? That would be a foolish thing to turn down.
Once Human Is Coming To PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
You’re in for a treat
Once Human has been available on PC via Steam for just over a year now, and it’s a certified hit. Developed and published by Starry Studio, it’s a massively ambitious open-world survival game set in a strange, post-apocalyptic future. You can work with friends to fight enemies, uncover secret plots, compete for resources, and build your own territory.
There’s a touch of Bloodborne in its eldritch monsters. Days Gone, and Fallout DNA is baked into its post-apocalyptic world, and a big chunk of Valheim in its survival mechanics. At the time of writing, Once Human has “Mostly Positive” Steam reviews based on over 76,000 reviews, which is pretty good going.
The good news for any non-PC players is that Once Human will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026. There’s no specific release date yet, sadly, but I’ll keep my ear to the ground and update you as soon as I hear anything. Between Once Human and Where Winds Meet, it’s definitely a great time for free open-world games. Oh, and because Once Human is a free-to-play game, you won’t need PlayStation Plus to access it.
How Big Is Once Human?
It’s not a small game, put it that way
Once Human‘s map is a staggering 16 by 16 Kilometers, made up of four unique biomes. Traveling across the entire thing can take a while, but there are tons of quests and side missions to discover all over the world. I should also note that trying to make it across the map without a vehicle would be an absolute slog, so make sure you secure an early-game vehicle like a motorcycle as soon as you can when Once Human comes to consoles next year.
Whether you’re looking to play it on PlayStation or Xbox, Once Human should be a big hit with console gamers in 2026. The perfect antidote for anyone who doesn’t care about GTA 6, or doesn’t want to fork out money for the game.
