Dragon Ball is a franchise known for some of the best anime movies around, and recently, one streaming giant brought one of the franchise’s best to its platform, making it easier to watch than ever. Dragon Ball is a series that has defined shōnen, especially in the West, and this movie will introduce a new generation to everything that is Dragon Ball.
Out of every iteration of Dragon Ball, none have been quite as popular as Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Z is widely seen as the high point in the franchise, and this movie is everything that the sequel series to the original Dragon Ball had been working towards.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods Brought Dragon Ball Back
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods brought Dragon Ball Z back. The series had been finished for years, and most rightfully thought that the franchise was over. After Dragon Ball Z finished airing, the franchise really was done, but the studios behind the anime adaptation wanted more.
They created Dragon Ball GT with minimal input from series creator Akira Toriyama, and it showed. The supposed sequel to Dragon Ball Z was sloppy at best, and it felt wrong to end the franchise there. Then, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods came out.
It was a movie nobody saw coming, and it was the perfect introduction to Dragon Ball Super, the true sequel series to Dragon Ball Z. The movie saw Goku taking on the powerful Super Saiyan God form, ascending to godhood for the first time in the series and discovering a new, divine opponent in Lord Beerus, a God of Destruction.
Netflix Is Streaming One of the Best Dragon Ball Movies Ever Made
Netflix has picked up streaming rights for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, which is easily one of the best movies in the Dragon Ball franchise. Netflix also has the largest subscriber base in the world, meaning that a ton of people now have a chance to watch one of Dragon Ball’s absolute best.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is one of the final films of the Dragon Ball Z franchise and one of the first to usher in the new age of Dragon Ball Super. With Dragon Ball Super’s return looking more and more likely, there’s never been a better time to catch up on the series.
Dragon Ball is one of the greatest anime series of all time, and the fact that Netflix is investing in one of its best movies is great for the next generation of anime fans. The series can seem intimidating to watch, but even people who have never seen Dragon Ball before will enjoy this film.
